A Crazy Night

What a night it has been for me. I had a long day at work, and then Mandy and I were going to hang out. We got together and had our talk, but then things started to go a little crazy...
First, were at the house putting the kids to bed, and the boyfriend starts freaking out on her. He tells her not to come home. Then a bit later he tells her to come home, and that when she gets there he'll break her jaw. One thing and another I end up on the phone with him. I'm not his favorite person at the moment, and he freaks out a bit more. He then threatens to make sure she can't see her daughter anymore, and she finally calls the police.
This starts phase two of the fiasco. They tell her to either go home and call when he has hit her, or she can go to the Sheriff station. So down to the station we go, where they say that they can't do more than ask him to leave. Without an order of protection there is no way to make him vacate the premise.
So... I go to put her up in a hotel and she was going to file the papers tomorrow. The office isn't open until 8 a.m. so that is the soonest that anything can be done. The motel is full, and she goes to crash at a friends. Now all she has to do is go and file for the protection order in the morning, and he will be removed from the house.
All I have to worry over is how soon he'll land himself in jail. I also am a bit worried since he knows where I work, but I don't really think he has the guts to start anything with me there. He has no idea where I live, so my kids are safe. Mandy will file the order, and hopefully he'll be picked up for an outstanding warrant by his parole officer when she gives him a call to tell him about the protection order that she is putting through.
I just hope this all works. I don't want to see him come around and really hurt her before he can be carted off to jail. I'll know more tomorrow when she calls to update me. Thankfully she has a friend from work who will go with her to file the papers since I'll not be able to leave work. I spent the last four hours almost going around with her and making sure she was settled, safe, and all set to do what was necessary to keep her that way.
We're still unbeatable together, and I love her too much to ever let anything bad happen. I'm just glad that she listened to reason, and I'm happy that we are still so strong when we work together to make things happen. Some things in life never change, and some friendships will never end. She's has been and will always be my best friend, and the love we have for each other is a special thing. I'm just thankful that I was only holding her hand at the station when she was upset, and not sitting there holding her while she's upset and beaten.
Take Care,
Meg
