Rebirth in Space

REBIRTH IN SPACE

Our manoeuvres in space
It is the thrill of the race
Heading to distant stars
As we speed past Mars

A small planet in hindsight
Earth was the ancient delight
Where we all came from
And what has it become?

It was everyone versus them
We win, and yet condemn
Our planet to eternal hell
With our nuclear spell.

Asteroids everywhere
Men frozen in despair
Sleeping inside the cargo bay
They are sent far far away

Many ships started in the race
As most vanish without a trace
Few will complete their mission:
The rebirth of the human condition.

Speeding across the universe
The vast distance they traverse
Brings mankind closer to its new home
Where once again humans shall roam

In smog filled cities with dark grey skies.

Oooo, I liked this poem, Aimus! The last line, however, kind of spelled out the sad truth "do we ever learn anything?". Great read! -- from your friend in the Prairies

Amazing poem!! Of course it is unique but it also reminds me of songs by Les Rockets. "One More Mission" particularly.

"My ship is my prison, wandering in the air
Don't know which dimension, I've never been there
Empty, lonely, endless days since I left my base
Will I find the passage back or will I erase
    Seems like I'm a loser, I don't really care
    One more mission..."
