10 books (I'm a copy cat)

Rate this Entry
1. One book that changed your life: The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding. I don’t know what I would have done without it.

2. One book that you’ve read more than once: The Grapes of Wrath or The Good Earth - I don’t know which I’ve read more.

3. One book you’d want on a desert island: I must say the Bible. I get more from it every time I read it. I don’t know what else would offer as much personal benefit or entertainment. I really do appreciate redemption.

4. One book that made you laugh: Candide. I laughed right out loud.

5. One book that made you cry: I’m a weeper so there are several. After my youngest was born I read a little book that belonged to my daughter who was ten at the time. Getting Near to Baby is maybe a fourth grade book about a family dealing with the death of a baby. My hormones were still haywire and I cried until I puked.

6. One book that you wish you had written: I wish I could write satire like Swift. I loved a modest proposal. I suppose if I have to say a book then I’ll go with Walk Two Moons- it’s a Newberry winner and Sharon Creech does such a fine job. She was a teacher and now a writer and I want to be her when I grow up~ kind of.

7. One book that you wish had never been written: How about The Prince of Tides

8. One book you’re currently reading: Madam Bovary

9. One book you’ve been meaning to read: Les Miserables

10. One book you recommend to almost everyone: I loved The Iceman Cometh and A long Days Journey into Night. I know I’ve loaned my copies of those out a lot recently.

Ah, I forgot about Candide as a funny read too. Good list, though I doubt I'll ever read The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding.

Have thought about Pearel Buck from time to time as I have a couple issues of The Saint Detective Magazine which contained stories by her and I enjoyed them. But for some reason I'm lazy as all get out about going further. But a seed is planted and we shall see. I hear The Good Earth has a sequel. True???

two actually, but I've only just learned that. I plan to read them this summer. The Good Earth made me cry. It's a wonderful story and I think everyone should read it.

I will have to do this '10 books' survey. Liked your list, M-H -- I need to read The Good Earth, you (and several others) have said how good it was. So that settles it.
