This and That

I haven't posted anything in a while so here goes. Since the end of February I have been doing free lance work at my old job. The pay isn't too bad and at least it gets me out of the house for 3 days a week. I am glad though that I am no longer an employee there. Things have gotten much worse since I left and I didn't think that would be possible. I am glad to report that I do get along with the director of the department. She happens to like me a lot which is why she pushed management to get me to stay on a little bit longer. (Sorry, don't mean to brag - but its nice to feel really needed - too bad they didn't think of that before I left). So what would have ended last week, I will be there for another 2 - 3 weeks. So many people at my old job are so unhappy and fed up with the place. Sr management just won't admit there is a big morale problem.
My younger nephew got engaged a few weeks ago when he and his girlfriend came to New York. He proposed to her on the ferry on the way to the city. So I have a wedding to go to in either the fall of next year or the spring of 2010. While the family likes the girl he is going to marry, we all agree that there is something abt her that we can't quite put our fingers on. But as long as he is happy, thats all that matters.
With Spring now here, it's time my husband and I start cleaning the yard to get ready for all the planting we are going to do. Haven't quite decided yet if I want to plant grass seed or just forget abt having grass in our backyard. I am leaning towards putting down seed because I hate looking at the dirt.
Dear hubby of mine will be put to work once he is able to do the yard work.
We'll end up planting tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and probably zucchini.
I'll get to do the planting of the flowers. I did that last year and I actually enjoyed doing it. My husband normally does it but I took over last year.
My older nephew, along with his wife and daughter are in Chile for 2 months. My nephew was invited to be part of the Chilean symphony orchestra. He plays the trumpet. Not much going on in the adoption department. Still trying to finalize paperwork and have to finish the on line course I am taking.
As I am writing this, my dog is sleeping beside me on the couch. I have to mention that she doess not like it when I go to work. She has gotten so used to me being home with her that when I leave her in the morning she looks so sad.
I also decided that I must get back on track with losing weight. I had lost 20 pounds last year after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and still have another 20 to go. I think I'll go back to writing down how many carbs I eat per day.
Anyway, I hope this was not too boring. Till next time.
