Eureka!

Rate this Entry
I got an idea the other week, that I shared with my friend who's involved, and I now want your opinion.
Here's the deal-- I am a fair cellist, can memorize poems and tell stories. My friend Mark, who will be graduating this year ( We'll miss you!) is an exceptional violinist/guitarist/mandolinist/banjo-ist. This summer, (on the weekends, because Mark will of course need a job) we are going to volunteer our talents at the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, cheering people up-- especially elderly, and children.
What do you think?

PS I wanted to get a job at a nursing home for weekdays. WHat does everyone think about that, too?

Oh they need angels at hospitals and nursing homes. You would be a welcomed sight for many, especially the elderly. You would be doing God's work. But be aware, it can be disheartening and sad.

It sounds like a good idea. Go for it. If not for them, then for yourself too.

Virgil, I have considered that. Weighing it though, the benefits would be so much greater.

Wow the blue was hard on the eyes but I submit your freedom to use what color suits you.

I tried reading to the elderly at a nursing home a couple of years ago. There were nice things about it and some uncomfortable things. Try to enjoy the postivies and ignore (if you can) the petulance that mars the work.

Hmm... I really do think it's a wonderful thing to bring some light into somebody's day. That being said, I also think that you need to view it in a way in which you can deal with the day to day disheartening factors of living in a nursing home
