Making Progress

Rate this Entry
I've not been focusing as much as I would like on my novel, but I feel I'm starting to make some progress. There was one tiny detail written in, and it just seemed to not fit with the story that I was writing. So, I've decided to change it, and while it isn't going to be seen in the chapters here yet, you will notice it within the chapter that I'm working on now. The small detail was that the Syine was not allowed to take a mate by law, but I've chosen to make it to where it was his own choice to not mate. It is less constricting, and it fits the story a bit better than the other.

Everything else is moving along as well. I have some calls to make tomorrow to prospective companies that I wish to find employment with. I've decided to take the more classic approach of sending resumes by mail. I've printed them on a fancy, ivory colored paper. It has a heavier weight, and it just stands out a bit more that the basic e-mail resume that so many companies accept now. I'm hoping that the extra effort will pay off. I'm not too certain that I can keep working at my present job.

Dont' get me wrong. I enjoy the job I have. It is long, erratic hours, but I still like it. It may be a physical injury that will keep me from it. As some of you know, this is our peak time of year during Lent. Being a fish place means we have some days that are busy beyond belief. Anyhow, the first friday I somehow wrenched my right hand. Now the knuckels have been swollen for weeks, and when I've not used it for a while the ring finger on my right hand locks into a curled position. I'm unsure of what I really did, but I'm looking to have it checked out in the near future. I've submitted the papers to change my insurance to this region, and as soon as I've recieved new cards I'll be into the doctor. My only fear is that I may have caused some more severe damage than I thought, and that I may have worsened it with the repeated use of the hand. I cook each Friday, and by Saturday the hand is useless. I can't even make a complete fist with the joints so swollen:(

That's about it here for the moment. There is still no resolution with our theif. The kids are doing well. They miss their dad, and so do I. We look foward to an end in the coming months, and I look foward to time to write once again. I've been making time lately, but staying up till one or two a.m., getting up at seven or eight, and then working all day isn't really working too well. I still need to sleep, but that means I have to find the time somewhere else.

I hope all is going well for everyone else.

Much Love,
Meg

Take very good care of the hand. I'm thinking tendons but I don't profess to know anything about muscles and whatnot. Will be such a blessing when Tom gets back and please update us on the house. Hang in there on the job hunt. Try to not get discouraged and think just one day closer to the new career. Love Rich

it is hard to stay up writing until 1-2 am and then try to het up at 6-8 am and go to work all day.. I know that feeling exactly... but then we have to fit our writing in somewhere, right..

I would say tendons as well... I've pulled a couple in my fingers quite badly rock climbing and the swelling and curling and pain sounds similar... the worst thing with it was the only thing that healed mine was time off from things like climbing... though I hope yours is just a minor thing and gets better soon..

    cheers

Wouldn't workmens comp cover your hand? Keep us posted. How have things been going with the in-laws and your house?

I hope the hand gets better Meg. I have no idea what those symptoms suggest. I'm also confused by the second poster's identity...a new lit-net mystery. I hope all is well. B
