Urban Angel

She was reflected in the passing light
angel eyes would never look to heaven
lost in a world that cast her from sight
she was born in this life already fallen
in her secret moments she finds delight
her life was over by the age seven
one day she is certain to fall apart
and from this pitiful life she will depart

But now she is kept in chemical glow
mascara running forming her black tears
waiting until a passing car will slow
deep inside she stores away her fears
in a polluted stream traffic lights flow
almost as a ghost she moves through the years
there's no time to worry about old scars
she visits all of her usual bars

In her sleep she is confronted by dreams
but she knows how to drift herself away
for long ago she grew out of the screams
she still wares wilted flowers from last may
nothing in her life is quite what it seems
so many voices wishing her to stay
and yet she knows that all of them are fake
she can't count her every single mistake

Kudos for giving me a bad case of the creeps. And reminding me of two ladies I know that NEVER will be the subject of a blog entry. Some wounds heal but never mend. Not really sure I should thank you but oddly enough I needed a jolt out of the mood I've been in all evening and have been unable to shake let alone pray away. (With respect to God.)
