I've just finished my essay, due in tomorrow, haha, it's still tomorrow, not today. Normally I have to stay up until the early hours and even the late hours of the morning to do my essays but this time I've done it with half an hour to spare...well, 20 minutes actually, but the fact remains that I did it before 12am YAY!!!! And, there's more, I'm exactly up to the 2000 wordcount, fair enough that includes the title and bibliography but I don't care, it'll do. It's probably not really any good, I think I strayed from the point a bit but it's done. It's over. Now I just have to print it out. I'll bet that'll be tricky. If I managed to get it all done and finished and even up to the word count something's bound to go wrong somewhere I hope not but that's how it usually goes. I feel good though. The great thing is that I had my first day off this week so I was able to sleep in and still do my essay, but I spent most of the day from about 3-3:30 upwards doing the essay. At the start I couldn't think or anything so eventualy I took a quick walk around outside and then settled down to work, and I took a break after 500 words and didn't do it again for a while then I lost somewhere between an half to an hour because I was looking for a critic or theory to include before the end of it (like I usually do). I decided instead of looking for a specific critic on Chaucer I'd do what my teacher suggested last week and look for a broader theory that could be applied to anything. That way I still show I know how to research stuff and form my own opinions of it but I can apply it to later essays too. He's a really good teacher, I think. He's not the same one we had at the start of this term, that one's not teaching us now because his wife's ill and she takes priority, fair enough, so we have this other guy teachign us who took us for critical skills last term. He actually does stand up comedy, he owns the largest chain of small comedy clubs or something like that, but he does literature too. He said that he normaly doesn't teach first years because they think he's too grumpy, regardless I think he's a good teacher, you really take things in with him and he gets you to really think.
Well, I think that's about all I can say for now, otherwise my wrists will ache. I should read Little Dorrit by tomorrow. I'm only onto page 2 and that was when I was tired. Well, in my defence, between that and the essay, the essay had to come first. It's 50% of my grade, so I had to get it done first. Even though it may not be very good I tried hard with this one and tried to take into account what the other teachers have told me. I even tried a spot of arguing, no, not quite arguing, because I agree with him, expanding perhaps? anyway, I mentioned roland barthes the death of the author and tried to expand a bit n it I guess, well one line of it. I'll see how that works for me.
Oh well, Bluebiird out out out![]()
