I went to the Cathedral for the Parish Seat. Louisiana is one the few states not to have counties. The equivalent to a county is a Parish. Anyways, I was praying for my daughter. Its her 16th year of life beauty and happiness. I stopped to purchase a small cross. Its golden and silver with and engraved medal on the back. The cross gets hot when I am hot, and stays hot when I am cold. Its nice to just put it on.
Please don't judge me too harshly, and allow me to read to you the front and back of a card that came in the box.
Side one....
The Crucifix Medal of St. Benedict
Among the numerous mediums holy Mother Church offers to bring help to the dying. She certifies the Cross of a happy death and the medal of St. Benedict. The Popes have granted a Plenary Indulgence to this combination. To facilitate the gaining of this Indulgence, we have the placement of the smaller cross of a Happy Death supporting the Medal of St. Benedict which is placed in the center of the back of the cross. One of the inscriptions on the Medal brings this wish in prayer form to mind...."We desire you in our hour of death to be our armour by your property and presence."
Side two
The other side explains the significance of the letters on the cross. The Cross of the Holy Father Benedict.
May the Holy Cross be my light
May the dragon be not my leader
Be Gone Satan (Stay Away!)
Entice me not with deceits
What you offered is evil
Drink your poison yourself!
Powerful words...but very beautiful that I should find them on a random object while I think of my daughter. I can't wait until she is 18, for then I can see her without her Mother's consent.
Here is a little picture of me with an old girlfriend. Her dogs name is Bailey and it was the biggest dog I've ever met. We both would be sore from smiling all day while we were out chasing animals. Bailey would chase herds of elk, I would chase Bailey or my girlfriend, and it was a very fun time.
Yes the picture is of me....I'm the one with the beard, LOL. Cheers, Pete
