An interesting, funny thing happened to me today.

So I was in one of the school's restrooms and I come out of the stall (I was plotting ways to conqueror the world in it) and I go over to the little area where you wash your hands and there was a gaggle of pinks (normals) talking about some sort of dance performance thingy that they were soliciting tickets for and I guess what they were doing was waiting there for people to come out of the bathroom and then solicit the tickets. So I come out (I know I keep going in circles here, just bear with me, this is how my mind works) and the talking and all movement ceases.

The huge, overpowering, thick glasses. The weird t-shirt with some unintelligible words/mutated artwork on it. The unbelieveably skinny, pale frame. Punker shoes. Bed head. No make up. Dark circles around the eyes. Un-styled hair with out-of-style pig tails.

We're not inviting her...she looks so...disgusting and...weird...

Then the talking continued after that little shock of my exsistance/prescene. "Ooooh, I love your hair! Now, I would give you these for free but blah blah blah"

Pinks are effing hilarious.

Hi. Lar. I. Ous. Plastic, stupid, artificial...

And then I go to my little mentoring deal with the nine year olds after school and they tackle me with love and constantly say, "You're pretty (one of them went so far as to call me beautiful) and weird. Weird is good." I do have friends at school, of course, who actually like me, I think, along with my weirdness, however.

As a side note, I got the topic I wanted to research in history, i.e. Vietnam. We had to list our top three choices (Mine were Vietnam, nuclear arms agreement, and the Bay of Pigs/Cuban Missile Crisis) and she would pick. Soooo glad I got Vietnam. Now I can really become an expert.

Moral of the story: Only associate with little kids. Past the age of 13 most everyone has adopted stupid societal expectations of "the ideal". Little kids rock.
I <3 your look! But I totally understand where you are coming from.

Yep, you can't bluff little kids. They know the real deal and it sounds like that's YOU.

That's good that you get to do a history project and cover Vietnam. We didn't make it to Vietnam in my history class. Not even in college. The semester was over and we didn't quite cover it. And we never did anything but read the dry text book and have tests on it - no extra reading or papers that may have made it better. I never was much of a history fan and the classes I ended up in sure didn't help. Good teachers are a blessing aren't they? Sorry about that dance thing I am sure you're heartbroken about that. honestly, it just doesn't sound like fun.

Weird is definately good! I am also weird! Hurray!

Vietnam is a GREAT topic to research, especially because of all the information out there on it. I did a culminating sociology project on Vietnam. 45 minute seminar =O.

Ha ha, yeah, I like little kids...I like 3-5 year olds, but eh. Nine's okay, too. Thank you, drama. Indeed, ampoule. Yes, I do wear those to school, Niamh. They look totally ridiculous but I have my reasons. Thank you. I know, I'm afraid that's going to happen to this year, Shalot. But I will be ahead of the game and research it anyways. Oh, I love good teachers. I KNOW!!!! I wasn't accepted! I've been scarred for life. Like I would want to waste my time watching people I don't even know dance around to cruddy music. (I'm assuming. XP) Aw, thanks, Kiz. The Pinks have a conspiracy against us, I'm afraid. Oh, are you, Becca? Huzzah! I know Vietnam is a really great topic. Really easy to find information. All the other kids could only find a few books in the library and I literally had too much.
