Manners, schmanners

Manners, who needs 'em?!

This is a bit of a rant because I am annoyed. I belong to a couple of forums and I have noticed a disturbing trend. People come on, ask a question and demand (not ask, demand!) help with their request. Then they are either rude or never even bother to say thanks! What is up with that?

I guess I can live with the not thanking part, even though it takes like, 5 seconds to type in a message like "Thanks, your tip really helped me!", so there really isn't an excuse for not doing it. But people may not always think of it, or realize that it is polite. And after all, whether or not I personally choose to help isn't based on getting a response or a thankyou, but making my knowledge available to somebody else. I might also add that I have helped a few of the members here on the forum, and been thanked very graciously. I appreciate that sort of thing, I really do.

The thing that burns me up is the RUDENESS. Somebody did that here at Litnet and it infuriated me. How arrogant. They received very good answers from several of the members here and their response to the help was just shocking to me.

Live and learn...

At first I was going to excuse some of the behavior because I got the impression the person was fairly young. But then I thought about some of the other members here, who are as young as 13 and 14 and THEY certainly behave with courtesy. So, I don't think being a kid is an excuse to have bad manners, unless we are discussing you know...six month olds.

    Not at all sam96.

I got annoyed on other people's behalf not my own. And the overwhelming majority of people here are very nice, including you.
