Two Sisters

Two Sisters

A pair of twin flowers
their life drained away
lay among the reeds
awash with the suns early rays
bathed still in pre-dawn dew

Pale flesh now motionless
fingers like vines intertwined
cloudless hair red and gold
cover the forest floor

Sweet faces now made serene
skyless eyes that see no more
blossomed lips pensive
with thoughtful expression

Imagined innocence
transfixed in wonder
forever now immortalized
they share in death
what they had in life.
