Anatomy of a Sweater II

Rate this Entry
I just finished the back to the sweater I'm working on, which I've now dubbed the "garden" sweater, and thought I'd share the progress. Here's the back fresh off the needles:

As you can see, the fabric tends to roll up, and the stitches of the pattern look a little uneven. To make the wool hang right for a garment, you have to block it, which means first pinning it carefully to match the desired shape and then steaming it with the iron and letting it sit to dry out for a day or two still pinned. Here it is pinned out to dry:

And here's the finished back:

I leave the loose threads where they are until everything is all seamed, since it makes emergency alteration easier if things are less finished. I'll make another update as the project comes farther along.

Amazing. This is just beautiful. I knit, but I can’t do anything like that. I’m very impressed!

Wow, that is incredible work. You are very lucky to be able to create such lovely things you can wear! (I loved your title, btw)

Very nice!!! I've tried knitting and crocheting and I just can't seem to get the hang of it. The first row comes out good but then when I get to the second it is all cockeyed.
