Let it Snow!

It’s a snow day today in the Ozarks. This is the first snow we’ve had this winter and everyone is excited. Motherhubbard’s kids are out sledding and playing in the snow. My grandson is outside making snow angels and my son is going to come over after work and play outside in the snow with him. Dan took my vehicle to work because it has 4 wheel drive and dropped our son off at his work and our daughter off at her work. All the County offices are closed and Dan is the only one in his building but it’s silly for him to come home then go back for our daughter. You northern folks will laugh, but we only have about 4 inches of snow. We are supposed to get the heavier stuff later this afternoon. We don’t have the road clearing equipment here that larger cities or the northern folks have. And they don’t grade the snow off the back roads when there’s only one family in five miles or so Plus we have very curvy and hilly roads. School buses can’t travel on them when there is even a little snow or ice.. Our hills and cedars are so beautiful covered with snow. I always think of the St. Patrick’s Day snow of 1988 when it snows. We got 27 inches of heavy, wet snow. The whole area shut down for days. We couldn’t get our front door open for four days and the Guard had to drop supplies to the folks living way out from a helicopter. All our snow should be gone by tomorrow night…it’s supposed to be in the 40’s. As long as it doesn’t freeze tonight we’ll be in good shape. . But it’s pretty right now and our kids get to play and get a day off and I can watch from the window and everyone gets at least part of the day off.

Sounds like fun, just keep it away from here. We have gotten so lucky with snow so far. Nothing major this winter at all. When it's been cold it's been dry. When it's been wet, it has been above freezing, so all we've had is rain. Can we go through the winter without a major snowfall? I hope so, I hope so. I told you I was old.

Enjoy the snow. I'm hoping that we get a bit more of the snow this way rather than the ice and rain they're talking about. Enjoy watching the grandbabies, even allergic to the cold, I love nothing more than taking my kids out to play in the white stuff:)

I love it, I love it. Ours just began about 5:30 p.m. They predicted it would start at 6. Now THAT'S close predicting. I want to make it to choir practice tonight with a quick stop at the store but if they call a snow day tomorrow, that's okay with me. Hurray!

The kids spent so much time bundling up to go out and then only spent a few minutes outside. They had a wonderful time and came in to track snow all over. My two year old didn’t know the coming in from the snow routine like the others. Everything gets shucked as soon as you are in the door and then it all goes straight into the dryer. He wanted to wear his snow for a while.
