Friday: My Monday..can't trust that day

Rate this Entry
I’ve been up since 2:30 am after staying up to watch the debate. I actually fell asleep in the middle of it and watch the rest when I did wake up. We are taking our daughter, Sarah, to Springfield to have a procedure on her back because of pain caused by ruptured disks. They’ll put some kind of shots into her spinal cord to lessen the pain she has. This seems to be a problem nurses have from the kind of lifting they have to do. She and I are pretty nervous about it. But several of the nurses on her floor have had it done and haven’t had problems and they have gotten some relief from the procedure. So, I’m up at 2:30, spend the day in Springfield, drive back home, then get ready and go to work from 8 pm till 8 am tomorrow. I don’t usually get much sleep on Fridays anyway so it shouldn’t be a problem. Driving home from work will be my only worry. It’s a 35 mile drive so I play my music loud and keep the window cracked. So far, after 26 months, I haven’t had a problem. I got a new Mammas and Papas CD so I’ll be traveling with them in the morning. I usually travel with Willie Nelson or The Beatles, but Mamma Cass is one of my favorites too. I love James Taylor but he can put me to sleep after working all night. My son has some CDs he’s left in my car that I’m kinda afraid to listen to. The names are enough to scare an old woman.
All our snow is off the roads and highways but still on the ground. It was pretty until my grandson tracked all over. Now it just looks like someone had a lot of fun out there.
Since he was going in and out into the foyer where we have tile, I put a towel down to soak up the melted snow. Well, of course I stepped onto the towel and slipped and fell onto the tile. I think the whole house shook! Now I have a bruised knee. The first thing I thought was, “At least I didn’t land on my hip.” It’s hell getting old!

Love those Mamas and Papas but don't be afraid to listen to your son's CDs. You might be surprised. I recently found that one of these groups had redone the old song, Earth Angel. They'll never replace the Penguins but it was fun to hear their rendition.

Perhaps I missed it but I've been meaning to ask you, how are you feeling Granny? Are you over the pneumonia? Hey I thought you were a Stones fan.

Good luck to your daughter on her procedure. And I was sorry to hear that you fell, but if a bruise is the worse that happened, man are you lucky! Please take care Granny!

Virgil, I love the Stones and Beatles but I also lots of other stuff especially from the late 60's. Strange thing is that I've started liking Disco and I didn't even like it back in the 70's.
