OK, I chose a fancy title -- it is not so much a conspiracy as it is legend blended with some scientific fact. Allow me...

Depending on where you go on the internet, you will find that the Jackalope is allegedly one of the rarest animals in the world. The Lepus-temperamentalus is a cross between the extinct pygmy-deer and a species of killer-rabbit. The Jackalope are mainly shy, unless you approach them, and then the Jackalope becomes unpredictable and possibly aggressive. Legend has it that none have ever been captured alive, however by putting a flask of whiskey out at night, you stand a chance to catch one. According to the experts, the Jackalope will drink what it wants of the whiskey, and then when it is drunk, the hunting will be a lot easier. OK, the same could be said of wayward husbands too, no?

The Jackalope can apparently imitate any sound, including the human voice, which is handy for eluding hunters, when the beasts pull out the old, "HEY! There He Goes!" phrase, thus making a clean get-away ... There is a legend that says that Jackalopes only breed during electrical storms that include hail -- which would explain why they are such a rare animal. As well, those mystical crop circles have now been blamed on the antics of these wayward rascals:



So, there are those who say that the Jackalope is a mythical beast that is a jack rabbit or hare with antelope antlers. And, the city of Douglas, WY claims to be the home of the Jackalope; however, it would appear that the legend of an antlered hare dates back to 16th century Europe; proof being in this rare photograph (note that creature in the upper left side)



I suppose that the reader will have to reach their own conclusions, though I chose to write about the Jackalope because there could be something to the story after all, which led to the creation of legends and other tales that scare children and make amazing midnight stories for around the campfire.
