I need green

Do you?
Reading Mother's blog yesterday and how she talked of wanting to get her hands in the dirt made me want to share the 'recipe' below. I always leave my decorations up until Epiphany but when they come down I immediately start thinking of my garden and my green thumb starts throbbing. Here is something for your winter days. You can watch it. You can talk to it. It can be your friend. When the soil is warm, you can release it.

Mini Greenhouse Recipe

1 ziploc bag, any size
1 cup of potting soil
a few seeds of your choice
1 tablespoon of water
a sunny window

Unzip your bag. Carefully pour in your cupful of soil. Try not to spill, boys and girls. Press a few seeds down into the soil. Add one tablespoon of water. Zip your bag up tightly. Place in sunny window. Do not open or add anymore water.
Now all you have to do is watch. Playing music for it or talking to it are optional.
When the bag is full of roots and it is warm enough outside, you can carefully transplant.
It's fun. It works.

Here springy springy springy.

I think my boys would love this. Sounds more fun than pulling weeds

Oh, you're another gardener? Great. I don't start until the tough part of the winter is over, sometime after February, when you get that occaisional warm smell in the air and the ground is thawing.

I didn't know that was possible. Unfortunately, I kill living things. I don't mean to - it just happens. So, I will spare a plant by not trying the experiment. (My son, however, might give it a go for a science project).

I can usually bring sick plants back to health by taking good care of them, correct sunlight, water, and even playing a little music. Unfortunately, I don't have any plants now, because I am gone all of the time. A woman wants $100/week to come in and water my plants. I can do without for the time being I guess. I'll have to give it a try and see what happens amps, thanks B
