A Little Bit of Everything

Instead of Love

Rate this Entry
I love you.
He whispers gently
staring deeply into her eyes
You do not know me.
she replies gently, looking down
away from his eyes
May I say I adore you then?
He says, questioning
No. That is worse, I am no goddess
I like you very much, then.
A shake of the head answers.
I am fond of you?
A slight tilt of the head.
A thought.
No. That is not much different from liking me.
What then? Please tell me.
If it is not love what is it?
If it is not adore what is it?
It's not a liking, what then?
What is it?
Is there any other word
instead of love?

She smiles
Friendship.

I wrote this because I have a very good friend who I have known my whole life and who I like very, very much. He like me as well. But we only just admitted to liking each other. He used the word crush which I hate (look up the definition to see why) and I used the word like which he doesn't exactly like ( ) because it sounds posesive to him. So we decided there is no word for it (love is too strong of a word for now) so then I thought, what a creative title for a poem that word be...instead of love. So of course I had to write a poem to go with the title. And that is what I did.

Great poem! I think I'll add a Kizzo word to the stew: SMITTEN (?)

I must say smitten is a good word but according to the definition it is as strong as love which still seems a little to much since we haven't even dated yet or gotten to know each other in any other way then just friends.

as for infatuated no offense but that is a horrible word.
    1. to inspire or possess with a foolish or unreasoning passion, as of love.
    2. to affect with folly; make foolish or fatuous.
    blegh- not a good description
