B-Mental's New Year's Diet

Rate this Entry
Well, (man I just can't say "well" enough) I'm dieting. Its part of the whole New Year's Resolution crap. Anyways, I've put on a significant amount of weight since my multiple injuries. My weight went from 159 pounds to 200 pounds. I've been slowly losing weight, but now I'm going to give the next 3 months to a dedicated effort to control my weight.

The diet is relatively simple. I am allowed to eat what ever I wish, but only in small amounts. Oh, I am forced to eat 5 times a day. With my 12 hour workdays, and working nights, my diet looks like this.

Meal #1
5pm (my breakfast)
-basically a small serving of meat, and a side of vegetables
- washed down with skim milk or water

Meal #2
9pm (Mid Morning Snack)
- Usually a modest bowl of cereal with skim milk (no sugar added cereals)
- washed down with water if neccessary.

Meal #3
12am (my lunch)
-small serving of meat, side of vegetable, one serving of bread

Meal #4
3am (Mid Afternoon Snack)
- 2 pieces of fruit, preferably fresh
- washed down with water

Meal #5
6am (my dinner)
I can have either a bowl of cereal, or one egg, one piece of meat, and one piece of bread

Anyways, the goal of the diet is to keep my metabolic engine running at a higher rate. I can honestly say I don't have any hunger eating all of the time, and I'll keep you posted on how the diet goes.

Later, B

It gave me energy just reading it. Sounds great.

Sounds good - IF you can stay with it. Diets are hard when they require more intake rather than less (its hard to find time these days). Good luck and keep us abreast of progress!

Good luck!! It sounds good. I hate the 'starve-yourself' kinda diet.

Best luck with it. I'm about 188 now--was highly annoyed when I got to 190 but that was probably because I kept ditching the lawn mower of doom a few times. Me I'm a very fussy eater who enjoys very little these days. Some moron put the idea that the taste buds die as you get older and the curse worked. Now hardly KFC tastes like cardboard.

Thanks for all of the encouraging comments. I'll be taking some before and after pictures. We'll see if you can notice any change. Going good so far. I am probably eating the same or just a little more in calories, but now they are spread over my waking day much more.

Good luck to you B:) Keep us posted. The five meals a day has always worked well for me, and it does make dieting easier.

B, good luck with the diet! Don't forget to eat lots of fish, because it is lean and full of good omega oils. As well, eat food that speeds up metabolism (i.e. celery, green tea works, too). Get lots of roughage in your diet, because it fills you up quick and stays with you (no pangs of hunger quickly, you know?). Last, be sure to have salads with oil/vinegar dressings, and you will feel great instead of sluggish! Go B, Go!
