Guess what, guys?

I own every DEVO album ever released to the general public now. Plus two live discs, (Live at the Palace 1988 and Live 2005) their E-Z Listening Muzak disc, Greatest Hits, the Hardcore CDs (1974-77!!!!!!!!) Adventures of the Smart Patrol soundtrack, and Pioneers Who Got Scalped. I didn't ask for all this, but I got it anyway.

Is it safe to say I'm in spud heaven? I never thought I would own this much Dev-O in my life. This new music has given me endless waves of creative inspiration as far as my drawing and thinking goes.

I looooooove the Hardcore volumes and don't like the later stuff (post Oh, No! It's DEVO!) as much like most spuds. But I like all of them in some aspect. I love "Happy Guy" and "Some Things Never Change" on Total DEVO and everybody hates that album. And "DEVO Has Feelings, Too" on Smooth Noodle Maps. But I'm obsessing over the Hardcore volumes. And I love "Shout" on the...Shout album So there. Their really early stuff sound so raw and jingly-jangly. They just changed with the times, I think. Their 70s stuff=sounds like it's from the 70s, and the same with their 80s/1990 stuff.

IT WAS A FOUNTAIN OF FILTH!!!! Er, not the music...never mind.

My mother says when I see Mark Mothersbaugh she'll yell at him for getting me hooked. "MY DAUGHTER IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!"


I also joined another forum for the first time in about of year.It's Booji Boy's Basement and it's pretty dead, unfortunately. But I joined it anyway.




You what I think would be really fun to do? Smear a white stripe of Noxzema over my nose and run around screaming, "I'M ADAM ANT! I'M ADAM ANT!!!!"

    Well, good for you! Isn't it simply just a fabulous feeling knowing that you now own all of the necessary music to a collection? I swear that when I finally complete a collection I feel like I really achieved something!

    I can't really believe I have it all. @_@ Pretty much. I didn't even ask for it, like I said.

    Well, it is DEVO, after all. I mean everybody has all of the devo albums...absolutely everyone. J/K Good for you Lily. Just hope they live forever, because when a member of a band dies, or all of them pass, there is all of the sudden 20-30 albums that are put out there. That happened when my fave Stevie Ray Vaughn died. The worst part is that most of the albums have tracks off of other albums that I already have. Anyways...I rant. B

    You tickle me to pieces, because I'm just like you are with my "obsessions". LOL. Hey - Adam Ant was HAWT - once. Not so much now. I want his 18th century Beetles-influenced blue uniform. That was sweet. Congradulations on owning all DEVO material but I fear you might be disappointed. What now? Capture Mark and tie him to the floor lamp in your living room?

    I like what I like. I watched some Adam Ant videos a few days ago on YouTube and some girls were all, "Ooooh! Adam Ant! *swoon*" Don't worry, I'm not. They're still alive and well and are coming out with a new album anyways soon, not to mention Mark's soundtracks for movies. And then there's that concert and Mark Mothersabaugh art show I need to go to. I know they're really fun and creative. Always coming up with new ideas. Plus, believe or not, there are DEVO songs that I haven't heard. AND there's this awesome DEVO podcast that I've been listening to and is updated twice a month or so. I don't think I will ever get tired. They are one of the best things that ever happened to me. I've seen fans who have been hardcore DEVOtees for 25+ years, so I think I'm okay. Once you devolve, you'll never go back.

    Oh Lily, I've never thought about your Devo fanaticism. Is that the same Devo that had a hit remaking the Rolling Stones's Satisfaction? That was when I was your age. I thought for sure this was some new group. I didn't think someone your age even heard of Devo.

    Yes, congratulations on the completion of a hot collection -- you are one lucky girl! I laughed my head off about your mom's comment about 'getting Mark' -- tell her no rolling pins in that handbag of hers and its all good! Cheers!
