Christmas & Me

Rate this Entry
People are writing about their Christmas's -- what the meal was, what they received/gave, so I thought that I'd add my two bits worth.

My day began with a frosty romp with Pepper (yes, the miniature schnauzer I always talk about), then after feeding her, I got down to business with the gift exchange. My hubby and I were not going to get each other anything, but ho-ho-ho on that. You see, he bought an electric guitar and amp only a month and a bit ago; and I joined the YMCA/YWCA a few weeks ago. So that was our money.

However -- under the tree was a box, a larger box, a heavy box .... with my name on it. Hmmmm, what has he done NOW?
He bought me the sweetest pair of ice skates that you can imagine. Loooooooooove those skates! I wanted to try them out today, because the weather was just perfect for ice skating. BUT: firstly, one needs the blades sharpened prior to using (and where would one get that done on Christmas morning, eh?). Secondly, there was lots to do today, as we were invited to my parents' home for a grand Christmas Dinner (as only a mom can prepare -- woot!), and I had promised her that I'd bring my favorite Broccoli Cheese Casserole and some extra stuffing (do you call it 'stuffing', too?).

So I can hardly wait to try out these skates! Woot!

I gave him clothes. How boring. But anyhow, he was very pleased, because he wasn't expecting anything ......

I like this warm and fuzzy feeling!

My entire family was at my parents' place (I have two brothers and two sisters, and then their families). It was absolute chaos (good thing that we left Pepper at home), but in a good and fun crazy family kind of way. We had the usual laughs (my dad is totally funny.... all the time, too!!), and I ate until I burst. Well, not really, but I did my mom proud, you might say.....

[to the 'Y' very very soon for me....]

Well, don't want to go on and on, except to say to you once more MERRY CHRISTMAS and enjoy the season.

Pepper says hello, too, I might add. She got a great gift from my mom, a stuffed animal shaped like a bone? HOWEVER -- that thing was completely chewed to bits within an hour. So I had to take it away, and she is STILL bugging me for it. Sheeeeeeesh!

Till next time,
Kizzo

If everybody owned a pair of ice skates and kicked their television sets out the window, the world would be a better place. Congrats on your new skates. Ahem...I got a red sled for Christmas, I've wanted one for years, and finally! So the next time it snows, point your ear toward the mountains, then close your eyes. Listen for a faint winter cry, that's me...Weeeeeeeee!

Jon, the first sentence of your comment has made me want to vote for you in the next election of leaders! (USA has presidents, Canada has Prime Ministers -- you pick) Congratulations on the red sled -- awesome adventures, but don't hit any trees. We call sleds toboggans, but also use the word sled, too. I like the word toboggan better, there is just something cool about it ... Hey! I used my ice skates last night..... and, hmmmmm ... I think I shall blog about it .... [TO BE CONT'd...]

Are people STILL finding love and fulfillment in the bosoms of their spouses and families? I thought that had been outlawed, but what a great feeling to read this account of such warm occasions.

I am going to PM you in the hope that you might share that broccoli cheese casserole recipe!

Sounds like your Christmas was most special. Glad to hear it and belated well wishes. Enjoy the ice skaitng--I never got the hang of it though I can roller skating if I don't overthink it.
