Kiz_Paws Bag Of Trix

A Trio Of Prairie Haiku & Photos

Rate this Entry

Have you ever seen
the cold side of a Prairie
it will warm your heart

This is my backyard
the snowy branches and all
I smell Heaven here

The bench in the path
sits and waits so patiently
as the seasons change

It is certainly difficult to slow down and feel any kind of creativity with all the hub-bub going on regarding the Holiday Season (whatever you celebrate, seems we are all quite busy!).

But, when I got my photos developed onto cd, my brain churned out a couple of haiku, so I feel pretty good tonight.

Billy (best friend and partner in crime, lol!) and I joined the YMCA/YWCA and are trying to purge ourselves of the evils of ice cream cones, chocolate, and you name it.... (Cap'n Morgan and Egg Nog? Oh no, not that too?!?)

Anyhow, LOVIN' it. Surprizing all the great thoughts one has while spending half hour sessions on the various instruments-designed-to-get-the-heart-pounding....

OR is this really just about getting prepped for the BIG MEAL coming up in less than a week's time.... hmmmm ....

Take care everyone, don't let the season get you carried away and discombobulated. Let Calgon take you away once in a while...Read some very cool poetry...Light some scented candles and listen to soft music... Go find a bird to watch from a distance...

Cheers and Peace!

These are such beautiful pics! I love landscapes in winter. The second pic made me think of Jon's avatar.
What I don't like in winter is to be cold, but snow is so great. We NEVER have snow where I live. Never. It is such a shame. I WANT snow.

When I saw your pics, I felt peaceful all of a sudden. I love snowy landscapes. The only thing I don't like about it are icy roads when I have to drive. But walking through the snow on a sunny day (no wind, please!) is simply wonderful

Your photos remind me of upper state New York in the winter time with the woods and fields not all that far from the houses. It's a beautiful memory of happier times and thank you for bringing it to mind.

as of now, the most beautiful place I have been blessed to witness is Southwestern Minnestota were it meets Northeastern Iowa (and the South Dakota right there, too?) I was a guest at a wildflower-seed farm in SW Minnesota; it was late July. The property at one time been a hunting lodge/camp belonging to a banker(banking family?) from The Twin Cities.

The place was absolutely shocking both in it's natural beauty and it's defiance of time. Hardly 15 persons had signed the guest book in the hall. The lastest was from the '20's or some craziness. It can't have been real, and I'm still not sure it was.

The best part for me was the sleeping porch; screened in cots with top-line white sheets and comfy hudson-bay blankets not two the same color be sure I slept sounder than can be imagined it still is a dream. I hope perfection can exist on it's own, oblivious to ruins I have known.
