Elizabeth Cotten was a lady who died sometime the 1990's, she was a black woman who married when she was 15; she played guitar but she played it upside down because she was left handed, and so she eventually created her own style of picking. She wrote such songs as Freight Train, and Shake Sugaree. There's actually a video of her playing Freight Train on Youtube! --more than one. I can't find her palying Shake Sugaree, but I like it too, and YT has Dylan and others playing that song.
Dylan Shake Sugaree (it's two songs, go to about 5 min)

And Jackson C. Frank; I mentioned him to some of you; his story is incredibyl tragic. His studio recordings were phenomenal, but there's nothing of comparable quality on Youtube; he just produced one album and lived most of the rest of his life in obscurity.
And just for fun, this is one of my all time favourite song/performances/artist; Copper Kettle, sung by Devendra Banhart
