No Vampires

No vampires today but a muddled succession of weirdness that I can’t remember instead. Got to go down to the butchers today, providing I remember. I saw Pan’s Labyrinth last night. I’d been interested in it but something put me off when I read the plot, I can’t remember what though. The subs aren’t a problem. Anyway, I saw it and I liked it because, unlike most films these days, I couldn’t always be sure of the ending. Can she trust him, can’t she, has she failed, what now? The only thing was when it kept going to the other points in the plot, the fighting, because I’m not keen on war films and the like unless they’re exceptionally brilliant and don’t include mass slaughter. I found myself thinking forget that, get back to the girl.
Last year I gave you all the details of my advent calendar but this year has been a bit different. First I had one with mini Cadbury’s bars in and then mum spotted a Doctor Who one and she got me that too and I couldn’t help thinking, two advent calendars, isn’t that a bit greedy? I’d have given one to mum but she was content with her Pirates of the Caribbean one, even though the picture of Jack sparrow was rather ruined by Will Turner next to him, in her opinion. The Doctor Who calendar contains either a chocolate TARDIS or Dalek of a mystery item which are dotted about behind larger doors. One was a Cyberman magnet, one was a mini Dalek and the last one, to date, was a chocolate coin.
I started work on another play a couple of days ago.
I attempted one earlier on, based on the Bottom Live performances. The two characters are hopeless losers Tom and Albert (and guess who I’m mocking with those two characters (though I’ll probably be changing the names later)). Tom is a lazy layabout who’s sole occupation is eating, sleeping and wanking himself blind (Though the real Tom once told me that it doesn’t really make you go blind). If you’re not familiar with that term I’m sure you can guess as to it’s meaning. Albert was much the same as Tom but now he’s starting to grow up and thinking about the future. They’re three years out of university, no jobs, still living in the student flat they’ve been in for five years and no jobs. That’s as far as I got. I think that whole thing would need a couple of rewrites.
The one I attempted a few days ago features Tom and Albert again but this time they’re in space, having been cryogenically frozen by a turbo powered freezer that they built (evidently in the last performance which hasn’t been written yet, though it gives me an incentive to try writing it). I’m not a play writer. I tried it a few times before but it got les far than my stories. However, it is a good way of getting down ideas for later. You never know. One day you could come down to the West end, on holiday, and think, “I’ll go see that play I’ve been hearing about” and it turns out to be one of mine. ‘A Bluebiird production’.
I can dream.
Well, butchers.
Bluebiird out.
