Attention Seekers

I have been called many things in various forums for my style of writing and interaction with forum members. And you can guess those things thats been said But I have never been told this:

So it made me smile because he said other day that I made LitNet more livelier But is my trying to amuse others and myself a form of attention seeking?

What about all those people post on this and other forums? Are they too desperately seeking attention?

If so then my initial blog is correct that we are indeed terribly lonely at heart.

But I am not lonely. I enjoy my own company. There is a difference between loneliness and solitude. Loneliness is when you desire the company of others and you have none. Solitude is when you have the company of others you choose to be alone.

So are you lonely or just solitary? or Attention Seeking

I don't remember saying that. Where did I say it Lote? I want proof. Perhaps you crave attention perhaps you don't (who am I to psycho analyze anyone?), but believe me I think you're a good fellow.

Ah now I remember. I was trying to make baki feel better. So I did say that, but you failed to include the at the end of my sentence indicating I was only half kidding. The full quote was this:

Oh don't measure yourself against Lote. He's just one of those people who crave attention and will do anything for it . You get way more comments on your blogs than he does. I'll join your fan club Baki.

Lote, Of course you're an attention seeker, we all are in some way. But I just don't believe that Virgil would say anything to hurt your feelings or offend you. He's a good guy. We all go to your threads to get a lift when we need it, plus you do keep us thinking. I think you're a good one too.

Granny5, no. I loathe myself. It is the last thing I want to do. It is in these debates (and I rarely put my own opinions in them), amusements and diversions that I lose myself from myself...

Virgil I am not offended. I found it amusing ;-)

I'm a solitary. Though a bit of an attention seeker, too. Bit of a paradox, what?

Lote, I like Loneliness at times, and appreciate Solitude (most of the time). But Attention Seeking, hmmm, well, maybe when I blog, but that is about it -- cuz I feel (when I blog), that I am speaking to people, and it is nice to know that people respond. Yeah... it is very nice. The people here are fantastic. **HUGS**

That reminded me of sth i said the other day, as a comment-reply in my blog-
I've got 2 'me's in me. One is a self-effacing git, the other is an attention-seeking brat.
And erm... Lote-Tree is a 'he'?! I thought its a "she" . Now THAT sure caught my attention!

I don't see you as a lonely person Lote, I always see your more 'contraversial' threads of a way of stimulating debate, and perhaps more for others than for yourself. Or perhaps not, perhaps that's a little too altruistic . I am a solitary person, I disappear in a crowd, it's too overwhelming. There was an attention seeking person on the train yesterday, (a scouser!) he got on the train and went over and started talking to this old guy, really loudly. The old guy is a really lovely man, he reads every day, quiet, keeps to himself, but he wears a deerstalker hat and frock coat like Sherlock Holmes. So this attention seeker starts asking the old guy about Sherlock Holmes, and unsurprisingly the old guy was up for a debate. The whole time this attention seeker just made statements which were designed to draw attention to himself, but pretty much everyone who could hear was listening to the old guy.

All humans crave attention, human interaction, and validation of themselves. Virgil was fundamentally right, and your writing is more interesting than some.

I'm attention-seeking sometimes, others I just want to disappear into a crowd.

But I didn't even feel bad! I was just saying that I wasn't funny!
I just kinda used him as an example of my un-funny-ness.

Everybody is an attention seeker, why else are we blogging them or posting threads? Let the forums fade into dust then

I think it depends. I believe I am fundamentally solitary, I just do not mingle easily with people and most of the times, I am happy to be alone. Solitude is part of my personality, and I like solitary activities, like drawing, painting and such. However, I admit that there are times when I feel sad because I am lonely. But I have always had difficulties to be around human beings, I guess I am more at ease with animals.

I'd go for solitude. I'm normaly on my own even when others wanna be around, sometimes even in a room full of people. I like being by myself most of the times. I think it's even healthy sometimes to be on your own.
