The Nation of the Glorious Turnip

Today was queen's day, the day that the Dutch celebrate the Queens Birthday, which is on the 31st of January. Seems strange, not really, the reason is that the previous queen did have her birthday on 30 april. Why change a winning formula?

Anyway, the point of this blog entry thing is, that I wanted to mention that this day is quite the festive occasion, with people selling their junk in the street, music by live bands and much more. It's actually quite enjoyable, and today it was nice too. Good weather, good beer, all around good entertainment.

And yet, there is something missing, because I can't help but wonder what will happen to Queen's day when our king in waiting takes over. Will it become King's day? Will it change to his birthday, which is only a few days earlier? (27th of april) All this change is still a few years away. I have therefore decided that is not what is missing. I have yet to find out what was missing, but when I do, I will not remember the next day, because It'll just be something silly.

Orange, everyone wore orange today, the royal Dutch colour. It's not just about football!
