Preparing for Broadway

Rate this Entry
Well, tomorrow is the big day I take Larry the Leprechaun into Manhattan for a grand tour of the city and to see a Broadway play. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, check out this thread from top to bottom.

Larry has already performed a miracle in ending the Broadway stagehands strike and now we will be off. Tonight we sipped tea and Bailey's Irish Cream and had a raoring conversation of Ireland, that marveous land of poets and song, of my favorite poet William Butler Yeats, and of life and growing old. Of course Larry is immortal so his years do not matter. We pulled out a Yeats poem, one he's very familiar with, and we sang it together:

A Faery Song
by William Butler Yeats
Sung by the people of Faery over Diarmuid and Grania,
in their bridal sleep under a Cromlech.

We who are old, old and gay,
O so old!
Thousands of years, thousands of years,
If all were told:

Give to these children, new from the world,
Silence and love;
And the long dew-dropping hours of the night,
And the stars above:

Give to these children, new from the world,
Rest far from men.
Is anything better, anything better?
Tell us it then:

Us who are old, old and gay,
O so old!
Thousands of years, thousands of years,
If all were told.
Here's Larry at Thanksgiving with us:

Stay tuned for our NY adventure tomorrow.

Wow! That Larry is an enthusiastic little fellow, isn't he? Have a great time. (I'll have to try and read about Larry)

I'm sure you know this, but I believe Yeats wrote the line no country for old men, which is the basis and title of a film currently playing at theatres across the U.S.

I really hope Larry doesn't yell, "Keep your hands off me lucky charms!" during the middle of the show Virgil. I wonder how he likes the big city?

We're back. Took plenty of pictures Shalot, but I didn't download them yet. I'll try to get them out later today. Yes he has brought plenty of luck, which I'll recount later.

Hey Virgil, what did you go to see?? It's funny that Friday night I had some friends over and I was drinking Baileys! My friends compare it to coffee, I call it food for the soul, lol! Then I moved to beer, Guiness.

Jon you're too much. What did you think I was talking about? We saw the show Spamalot. It was ok. Only ok. I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

It looks like the strike ended just in time for your arrival! I think they knew you were coming. I just had to edit this! I ask for a review and you have given the review to "Spamalot" right below me! So, it was only OK? I just got tickets last week to go see it in May. Well, I won't worry too much how it will be until I see it.
