Just got some pictures of the burned up rig from my brother and his friend. I especially like the one where you can see all of the burned up vehicles...gives you a scale to the intensity of the fire. Oh well give em a look....B
I can't get to them B. All I get is the opening page of photobucket:)
My bad, I set it up without a link
Wow. Reminds me of parts of Guam - little sections of the base (Andersen AB) tucked away in the boonies.
That looks like it was really intense. Is everything else just burned from the heat of the flame?
Whoa! Hope no one was injured in that! Awesome pictures, though, B.
Yeah the fire was pretty impressive. These pictures were taken from the Interstate bridge. The cement guardrail is visible in the lower pictures lower left. The intensity of the flame now is probably much lower than it was before. This is a natural gas fire, and it probably made a cloud of gas (heavier than air) that was quite concentrated before the gas sparked. The result would be a massive blast that would use up the immediate oxygen, igniting all flamable materials. The crew probably abandoned the rig just moments before the blowout. You can see they didn't waste their time to get to the trucks. No major injuries reported, but the interstate has been closed for a couple of days.
Wow! The first one - in terms of photography - is artistically perfect. I could easily see that in the magazine. Sad it happened in real life, but glad no one was hurt. - C
