Comfort Food

When I was a child, on my lengthy walk home from school, I used to ponder as to what my mom would be making for supper. She was a good cook and there was always a hearty meal provided, coupled with her talent for baking. I never could decide just what was my favorite meal, but one thing that really stood out in my mind was her fresh home-made cinnamon buns. If I got to the driveway and smelled that tantalizing aroma of her cinnamon buns, well I pretty much floated my way to the door of our home.
Anyhow, the years have come and gone, and there sure is something to be said about familiar odors/scents that can dredge up memories, be they good or bad.
I came to terms with this idea of "comfort food" after I got married and started to learn the fine art of getting food on the table warm and somewhat edible. Comfort food was seen in many recipe books, but no one was too comfortable with my cooking at the onstart of this marriage ...![]()
But, the old adage 'practice makes perfect' does have its merit, and with a few years of keepers and "are you trying to poison me's", I have my own array of comfort food that I believe are keepers. I'll never quite make those cinnamon buns like mom, but oh well, all part and parcel of my childhood, good times....![]()
I still dislike the idea of slicing and dicing and standing and fussing in a kitchen, but anyhow, folks gotta eat, as my dad would say, and though I grudgingly say so, it really isn't that bad at the end of the day ... but don't tell anyone I said that, I'll deny everything!
I will leave you with my latest version of 'comfort food', life is good if you can smell this coming out of your kitchen.....
.........
Help yourself, wipe the crumbs and save me some of that coffee!
Love,
Kizzo![]()
