I Gotta Bed!!!

Rate this Entry
Well as you can tell from the title...I got a bed today. I haven't had my own bed in several years, and since moving down to Louisiana I've slept on an air mattress on the floor. I was living in my car for a while in 2005 until I went to New Zealand, and I've lived an extremely nomadic lifestyle for the last several years with several extended stays in hotels and motels. This is just such a big improvement in my living situation (why, I'd go so far to say its almost as good as getting a new puppy/dog.)

I'm a little kid thats just can't wait to play with his new toy, and by that I mean sleep. Seriously, I've emailed my family and made many ecstatic calls. Even better, the bed frame I was looking for was on sale and I got it for only $1000 which is very dear to me, but what the hell. You only live once, and the quality of sleep is so important to your physical and mental health.

The only bad thing is that the bed frame sits there, set up and empty. The mattress won't be delivered until tomorrow, as it was stocked in Baton Rouge.

Tonight is the last night I sleep on the floor...I just hope I don't like the bed so much that I don't get on the forums and blog as much.

Ok amigos, I'm off...pleasant dreams,
B

Congrats on your new bed! I think people who work for a living need and deserve a good night's sleep and I think yours is long over due. You should top that mattress off with some nice sheets - go for at least 300 thread count (the sister-in-law turned me on to these). They're very soft! Put them in the dryer with some bounce dryer sheets before you put them on your bed. Sweet dreams B-Mental. (don't forget a good pillow too!)

Glad to hear that you like the bed so much. I agree with Shalot, top it off with a little more expensive bed linens than the cheap ones from Wal Mart or something. It is completly worth it:)

Oh but these days you can get a set of soft sheets from Wally-world! check for thread count. anythoig over 300 and you're good to go. Actually, I take that back. Better feel those sheets first. I was in Wal-Mart today and came across some sheets labeled 300 thread count and they had a cut out hole in the package so that you could feel them and they were not soft! But I had some luck at Target so maybe you should go there.

I'm sorry you've been so nomadic over past years, and haven't had a bed in which to sleep. It makes me very sad. You could've found a used matress- why didn't you ask for help from the churches? Did something happen to lead you into such poverty? IN any case, I'm really happy you have a place to live and sleep, and wish you wonderous dreams by the by.

It's kind of like wearing glasses without the lenses, a frame with no mattress. I hope you get your mattress delivered today. Bed is good. Sleeping is better. Good luck to you.

Aw, B, this was such a sweet Blog Entry! Yay, you gotta bed! I agree with all the previous posters in that you really need to get some nice linens to go on that bed of yours, and you will sleep in style! Either way, pleasant dreams, Kizzo

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. It is wonderful. I think you know what my next blog will be about. I am in the high bed count lovers list too. I couldn't agree with everyone more. They really do make the bed that much nicer. I am still giddy with the bed, and probably will be for weeks. Last night was awesome.
