Raising Sand

The former lead singer for Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant, and the blue grass goddess, Allison Krauss, have joined voices to record a most incredible CD. Yup...that's it up there ^^^ Raising Sand. Oh my gosh, the places it takes me. Hehe...I need a man to hold me close and slow dance to Polly Come Home. And then he can just stay there cause I'll be needin' him again. Oh yeah.
Their voices really work together but it is the acoustic instruments that sing for me even more. There's a little twang here and there but believe me, it's much much more.
And Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us, I just can't say. Reading Prince's poem, Within Your Voice (11/10/07), this morning made the lyrics reach even deeper into me.
They are remarkable on the old Everly Brothers song, Gone Gone Gone,
and Townes Van Zandt's, Nothin'. Mmmmm.
All of the lyrics are amazing.
Like:
"Leaves were falling just like embers
In colors red and gold they set us on fire
Burning just like a moonbeam in our eyes
Somebody said they saw me
Swinging the world by the tail
Bouncing over a white cloud
Killing the blues"
or
"If the wild bird could speak,
He'd tell the places you have been
He's been in my dreams
And he knows all the ways of the wind"
or
"Long way going to
Get my medicine
Sky's the autumn grey of a lonely wren
Piano from a window played
Gone tomorrow, gone yesterday"
Well, I sure like it.
