"It's gone!"

...In case you don't recognize those two quotes, they're from Lord of the Rings. 75 times indeed! Just you wait, Henry Higginses. I won't stop till I reach a hundred, so there! Don't forget, I have the complete soundtracks to 1 and 2. The 3rd isn't out yet. Not to mention, I'm broke.

What's gone? The PSAT test that I've barely talked about. I took it today and finally, I can wave its evil presence out of my mind. This is practically my first official test. I studied for it for a month and have spent the last week getting edgy. Nasty thing was never far from my thoughts. And of course, my Mom knows I get nervous so she kept trying to give me pep talks. I love my Mom dearly but pep talks are sincerely irritating. Raise my hackles. Anyhow, now I can get back to normal.

And what a perfect day for things to come back to normal. COUNTESS IS BACK!! I am very very happy indeed to see her here. I've missed her.

Here's a tidbit for you from Hebrew class yesterday. Did you know that "abracadabra" comes from the Hebrew word "HabarakaHadabar?" And guess what it means? Such a lovely meaning. It means "the blessing of a word." Isn't that gorgeous?!

So now, I get to start looking for a job. Some spending money would be really nice, but definitely I'll be saving some. Probably(or maybe that should be "if I can get my parents to agree") I'll give some to my Mom to pay for my schoolbooks. Those things are mind-numbingly expensive!! Even if they're off Amazon!

There are a couple things about the LitNet that I've noticed lately. First, the atmosphere of love and support. I'm thankful to see that I'm not the only one who has noticed this. Pen, Rich, Countess, Kizzie and others have spoken out about before. Isn't it grand that we're able to say "love" even though we've never met? That there's such an attitude of trust around here? Seriously, it's lovely to see that all those awful reports about the internet being such a yucky place aren't wholly true. Though I'd still want to be somewhere public, (no offense to anyone) I want so badly to meet a LOT of you! I'm very thankful to say that I'll be worshipping at my Master's feet with some of you beside!

Second thing I noticed, and I daresay others have seen this too. We all strive to be ORIGINAL. We take pride in being called weird and strange and odd and BOOKISH! I think that's why there's such solidarity. I feel so very comfortable here at the LitNet because of that. If the places you live in are as flamingly liberal as California, you don't meet a lot of bookworms. This place is an oasis! I really feel like God led me to the LitNet. I never expected to make solid friendships and I NEVER expected to use the inbox but looking up, I've got a total of 110 messages. ME! And people read and comment on my blog. What a miracle.

I think I'll stop there. I've got to be noble and do my chemistry.

Cheers from your back-to-normal
Andya.

Before I go, something for you....

And yes, Boromir is still my favorite character.

Glad that I'm not the only one who likes that there are other bookish people around. The trust and companionship here is amazing, and there are a few people whom I am even coming to consider friends. That is not something I was expecting and it has been a pleasant and joyous surprise. Good luck with Chemistry.

One of the few disappointments with the movie Return of the King was little Liv Tyler (the other being the Shire portion at the end being pretty much left out--devastation of war and all that)--suspected they wanted a happier ending and the preservation of innocence.

Yes I look forward to seeing certain people in the next life as the chances of hitting California are remote (especially since friend Jerry moved to Oregon) and Len passed away six years ago in the Merced area--no one left back there after these almost 35 years.

Your remarks on the friendships was encouraging. Rich

Mom and I were talking that you should get a job at Starbucks. I wouldn't mind a friends and family discount.

Nice post Andy. Hope you did well on the psat. God i hated those tests. I could never study for them. Yes lit net is a fine place. The people here are wonderful. Certainly all the regulars. Good luck in getting a job. It will be a good experience for you. Most of my college life i had two part time jobs while going to school. Not easy but it made me a better person.

Meg, it is a pleasant surprise, isn't it? ......Rich: Liv does make a grand Arwen, but they kinda messed up her part a bit. I'm ok with the leaving out of the shire portion but what the screenwriters did to Faramir and Eomer is UNFORGIVEABLE! I am thoroughly incensed. One more thing. I'm really glad you're one of those solid friendships I talked about.......Bulletproof: Of course you would.....Virgil: Thanks! I'll post my scores when I get them. If they're not too embarrassing. . I am looking forward to getting a job.........Niamh: What's Forbidden Planet? And yes, I want to work in a bookshop. I'm going to volunteer at the library and perhaps look for a job at a bookshop here.

I'm honored and somewhat humbled at being considered a friend. I have to keep explaining to the long suffering one that you're probably 17 by now but a very mature Christian. I tend to treat everyone I post to as if they are at least of age which so far as kept me out of trouble. Forbidden Planet ads show up in 2000 AD and Judge Dredd Megazines I import from Great Britain and the ads make me think they are similar to comic book shops but a step or two above. It was nice for Eomir to have a implied happy movie ending because I really liked her character in the books--favorite scene her facing the Nazgil. Again thanks for your attention and prayers.

I expect your PSAT to come back with close to 1600. You're one of the brightest young minds I've ever met, and very mature. Congratulations! I'm taking the GRE next month, so I understand the intense preparation and anxiety you endured.

Yes, this place is out of this world. I mean it; it doesn't fit within the context of our society. People here are different - they're beautiful souls, so loving and accepting of differences. I know of no place "out there" that boasts the same.
Thanks, Andave, as usual for your insightful post.
PS: I still love The Elf best. (-:

Rich: I'm still 16. But, I had to laugh. It's Faramir and Eowyn, not Eomer. Eowyn was a bit played with but she's ok. Eomer is Eowyn's brother. Most of his lines were given to other people in the story, which is why I'm unhappy with his character. Forbidden Planet sounds interesting. You know, every time I see a comic book shop I think of you, Rich. Are there any comic books you're looking for in particular? Send me a list and I'll keep an eye out for them.................Countess: coming from you that's a compliment and a half, but I'm really not all that To God be the glory. I'll pray about your test. And I know you still love the Elf best. Every time I see him I think about you, and I'm beginning to like OB a lot more. Not full-fledged love but a lot better than first.

An dave --The offer is appreciated and I will PM you re how I operate with friend Nikki (who does my e-bay bids for me. Helps her rating and helps my collecting and is mutually beneficial to both and keeps me from going overboard. The long suffering one is used to the proverb: "I would have more Batman comics if I didn't think rent was important." Your offer is sweet and I respect you enough to take advantage.
