Orange

There is a beautiful orange glow over this part of Indiana at this time of year. There are pumpkin patches everywhere with excited children running around looking for the perfect one to carve and place as a guard at their front doors.
It has been unseasonably warm and I am actually looking forward to the first chilling wind and rain. I always read The Fall of Freddie the Leaf by Leo Buscaglia at school, knowing that the children are probably too young to 'get it'. But they sit there mesmerized and I know they look at leaves differently as they, the leaves, let go.
I think maybe this is a season for letting go.

What fall or harvest-type festivals have you participated in?

yeah - it was 90 degrees here on Monday. Some fall weather right? I live in the southeast near the smokies and they're gearing up for for fall down here. The mountains are gorgeous in the fall, but we've had a major drought this summer and I don't know what effect that will have on the foliage.

I hope we get the brilliant oranges reds and yellows that I love. Fall has got to be my favorite time of year with college football being such a big deal down here, and the fall festivals, and the good concerts that seem to roll in around the fall.

It's getting cool here now, 42 last night and again tonight. I love this time of year. The leaves haven't started turning yet but will soon. I can't wait. The schools are having Fall Festivals and my 8 year old grand daughter is a queen. So I'll go see her all dressed tomorrow night.
