Going home

Rate this Entry
Well, I’m going home today. I do it every weekend. I’m currently eating cold beans and bacon. They were cooked, I cooked them in the adorable little microwave saucepan that I brought back last week. I had to use up all of my bacon because it was going to go off and I ran out of milk yesterday and my bread got a few mould spots on it even though it was fine the day before. There’s four rashers of shrivelled, microwavable bacon here and a whole can of beans that was left over from mum’s food package that we brought with us, it also included another 2 cans of beans, one of macaroni cheese and two of soup. We’ve added ravioli since then and also sweet corn but I’ve eaten that. Earlier in the week I just had a can on its own and ate it in here and then I had it the day after with some canned tuna steak. I also had canned mackerel about 2 weeks ago but I already ate that. I think I might like a little more meat in my diet here but the biggest concern is veg. All I’ve had is the tinned sweet corn and the microwave soups (those were about 2 weeks ago too).
My stomach aches from all the coughing. That seems to be clearing up a bit now but my stomach is not too happy. I’ve stripped my bedding and changed it, now it’s kind of wavy, blue camouflage but the sheet’s nowhere near as nice and soft. Oh well.
They really went crazy last night. I was asleep most of the time until one of my neighbours started knocking on my immediate neighbour’s door demanding his key. This immediate neighbour is one of the ones who slept through the first fire alarm so it took a while. I don’t know if there was any response in the end. I either nodded off or listened to my Kaiser Chiefs. I probably did the latter because I was sleeping before and him knocking on the door woke me up.
I seem to be settling in here, it’s not so hard to sleep but really I stay up until between 1-2 anyway so I’m knackered when I eventually do try and sleep. But if I can get used to the noise here then the upside is that I could easily sleep in a hotel without my earplugs, although there would be mum’s snoring to contend with. No one here snores loud enough for me to hear.
Anyway, when I went out this morning...actually it was about 12ish so I guess this afternoon I met one of the worst sights since coming here. The crane that I’d stuck above my door was torn in half, but I’d been expecting that to happen, my immediate neighbour (the heavy sleeper) had a loaf of bread on his door, well, half a loaf, it had been shoved onto his door handle (This isn’t sliced bread by the way, it’s the crusty kind) and bread was all over the floor too, who here buys those loaves of bread anyway? It was a mess, crumbs all over the floor and the kitchen was also a mess, though it’s been worse I have to admit; plates everywhere, glasses, cups, mugs, empty booze bottles, one of which was by the door along with a cork, the chairs were a mess, a stool was on the floor and someone had moved in the chair with the broken leg and put that on the floor too. Our cleaning lady has my sympathies. They all get so drunk over the weekends it seems, last night my other neighbour was playing drinking games with a few others. They’re happily fitting into the student stereotype. I’m probably fitting into the recluse that will turn into a mass murderer stereotype, seeing as I’m to stupid to be a genius .
Well, I guess I’d better get going, I’ve got packing to do and all.

Bluebiird out.

It's good to know not much changes be it a college dorm or military barracks. The noise level was such that I regularly 'tried' to sleep around mid-night but average would be 2 pm which is probably why I do well on second shift. It got to where I bought a small TV and let it run 24/7 to block ou the more noiser aspects of dorm life. Much sympathy.
