The world is a joke

Rate this Entry
What few people realize, is that this world is a joke, a moderately funny, if somewhat cruel joke.

The joke was first told millions of years ago, but has since changed somewhat. This first joke revolved entirely around life originating from nothing. Nobody laughed, because the joke just wasn’t funny. So the inventor of the joke, Bob, decided to make a few changes to it. He has continued to make changes, and the joke currently encompasses billions of people, and takes months of earth time to tell. Explaining the joke is impossible, even for Bob, who himself has forgotten the purpose of the joke. What’s worse, the joke has taken on a life of its own, and now everyone who is familiar with the joke, or, even worse, is part of the joke, can add to it.

This has happened many times in the past, with many notable additions to the joke having occurred in recent millennia, changing it forever. Bob, being universal, is fully aware of all the changes. He cannot reverse the effects though, not without loosing the entire joke. So he just lets it go on forever, as he works on a new joke. The new joke will be much better, and a lot funnier, because he didn’t aim for moderately funny. Bob wanted a hysterical joke.

The biggest addition to the joke is moderately funny if somewhat cruel is the human. It is forgotten who originally added the human to the joke, but even though no one is willing to take credit, it must be said that the human is responsible for some of the funniest parts of the joke, not to mention some of the most cruel, and just plain weird aspects of the joke.

It has also occurred, that one of the humans becomes aware of the joke. This happened with a human known as Einstein. A careless teller of the joke introduced this human to the joke in such a way, that he was able to see the joke for what it really was, instead of what is imposed from the outside. This glimpse was enough for him write something known as the general theory of relativity. This was first and until now, last, hysterical part of the joke. It is to experts of universal physics anyway. The common listener will find it less than amusing though, and will be more interested in the human condition, and how it influences the joke on a global level.

To learn more about the joke, one is encouraged to look it up at the galactic repertoire for moderately funny, if somewhat cruel jokes. It is currently ranked number 2, trailing just behind the ‘Bob does not exist joke’, also by Bob.
