I am on vacation this week until Friday night. As usual, I had plans to get a lot done around the house to prepare for the Holiday Season, but I’ll only get a part of it done. I spend too much time on here! Anyway, I’ve been off since Tuesday but last night (Saturday) was the last night of one of my associates at work. She is an older lady who has worked at our store for several years and who is getting married and moving to Texas. So we all decided to give her a party on her last night. Poppy made a huge pot of chili and at midnight, I drove the 37.5 miles to the store to feed her and everyone else. Everyone seemed surprised that I would come in while I was on vacation.
None of the other regular managers who work overnight were there. This surprised me.
We are with these folks more than we are with our families so I just couldn’t let her last night go by without being there even if I was on vacation.
Anyway, everyone was supposed to bring a dish and we were going to have pot luck.
Well, except for the cake the store bought, a plate of cookies, some rolls, and an apple pie, my chili was all that was there. Thank goodness Poppy made enough to feed everyone. We got her a plant and a day planner with all of our mailing addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses in it. We also collected $65 dollars for her to buy a wedding present. She is such a sweet lady, always happy and laughing and keeping everyone upbeat. It makes work so much fun when you work with someone like her.
