My second daughter is 30 years old and a nurse. Sarah is a great nurse and a great mother. She is a little OCD but that’s just part of her charm. One thing that Sarah does is hold a grudge. She has got to be the best grudge holder I have ever known. She has been mad at her older sister and me since she was in third grade. Any time we are all together, the incident she is mad at us about comes up. I think her older sister enjoys bringing it up.
It was just after Halloween and I had picked Tonya up at the Jr. High then drove over to the Elementary school to pick Sarah up. We had stopped on our way and bought ourselves a soda. While we were waiting for Sarah to come out of the school, Tonya found a couple of rubber masks in the car. One was a witch and one was an ape. So we put the masks on and put our straws through the nose holes and sat the waiting, sipping our sodas. I saw a couple of friends who had come to pick up their kids so I got out and visited with them a little. Then I get back into the car to wait. Sarah comes out of the school with all the other car riders and just walks right by our car. I roll down the window and yell, “Hey Sarah, it’s me, your Mom.” She keeps walking like she doesn’t know us. So I get out of the car and go to get her. Sarah runs back to the car, opens the back door and jumps in, then gets down on the floor of the car. She doesn’t want any of her friends to see her with her crazy Mother and sister!! Motherhubbard and I thought it was so funny. We were laughing so hard that I could hardly drive. We thought it was a great joke. Sarah stayed on the floor until we got home. Today she will tell you it was the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to her. I still think it was funny.
