Do you ever have times like this???

Do you ever have a day or a series of days where everything that can go wrong will, at least once? I'm sure everyone feels like this sometimes, but I know that is how my weekend went. It started on Friday with the baby getting the chiken pox. The same day I bought jammies for the kids. I know that I shouldn't of had her out, but it is getting cold at night now, and the kids didn't have bed clothes that would keep them warm. I really had to go to the store. Regardless of how, I bought the wrong size for my son. I don't know how, but I did. This meant a return trip to the store of purchase which is fourty minutes to an hour away depending on traffic.

Saturday I wake up to a sore chest. It seems that my cold just doesn't want to let go, and now I had a deep hacking cough that normally warns of something worse happening than just a cold. I can't call off work if I wish to keep my job, so so advil and a few cough drops later I leave. It isn't too bad of a day at work, but when I get home the baby is even worse and she needs some medicine and an oatmeal bath to help her feel a bit better. We had trouble getting medicine, because my husband could not find it in the store. He made the trip once, and then I had to go back out for it after he returned home.

Sunday is more of the same, but this time work is awful. I'm still feeling as if someone put burning coals in my chest, so when it is time to leave I just want to get home quickly. Twenty minutes after the end of shift I still have not found someone who can sign my timecard. It seems that if you are not a manager you can not sign for anything, and I guess someone was fired recently for doing so. Everyone is terrified at the thought of putting their name on it, and much to my bad luck the manager has left and will not be back until closing time. By now I'm sick and angry, but I agree to come back at close so he can sign my timecard. With no one to sign, I'll not get paid unless I do. I went back at close, and the manager is still not in. Instead I'm told that he will not likely be back until late in the night when workers are stocking to do his closing.

In all, the whole weekend just sort of went from bad to worse. Now I'm sitting here looking at an unsigned timecard, and thinking that there are the hours I worked that I can not get paid for. I've yet to hear from my manager about what I should do, and I've also not heard from the marketing agency about whether or not I can do a preliminary phone interview. I would call today, but I have no voice:sick: I'm hoping for a better week. I'm trying to get my voice sounding normal so I can make that phone call. I am also hoping that I'll hear from my manager today. My in-laws are coming into town this weekend, and I'm looking foward to seeing them. All I need to do is get the house nice and neat before they get here. I'm determined that the week is going to get better, but with nothing else to really blog about I thought I would share my comically bad weekend. I'm even laughing a bit about it myself. I don't think I've ever had that much go wrong in a few days:lol: Is there some law that when things start to go wrong, everything will go wrong? Hope everyone else had a better weekend than me.

the last time i had one of those days was the morning i had my interview for the duty manager position. I had brought a white shirt with me to work for the interview and it turned out i'd managed to pick up a green bra from my drawer instead of my white one. I got a phone call from the bank demanding why i hadnt sent them a particular form back and that if i didnt sent it back to them soon they'll redebt the frauds to my account. etcetcetc.
Sorry to here that the baby has chicken poxs. Poor little thing. Sounds like you need an antibiotic.

Murphy's Law, which is one of my parents' favourites, much to my dismay, says that anything that can go wrong will go wrong. It sounds very stressful! I hope you get some peace very soon, Meg. Reminds me of my friend, whose fiancee is working two jobs full time, as well as going to school full time. She says about two days a week he doesn't sleep at all! So she's really worried about him driving, and it's stressing her out. Good luck with everything- Nik. And I agree with Virgil. :)

I'd be really peeved and I'd start talking some trash about how you worked hours you didn't get paid for and that's against the law and if it isn't rectified they'll be hearing from your lawyer. they should pay you out of petty cash so that you won't be broke. sounds like you're not staying anyway. if it were me, I'd let them have a piece of my mind (and then I'd regret it later). I guess it's better just to rant on lit net.

I hope everyone feels better at your house soon.
