A Little Bit of Everything

When All Is Well

Rate this Entry
In my life I have usually been the one my friends come to in times of trouble, whether just to cry on my shoulder or tell me their worries. I have often wondered how it is that one always remembers their friends when all is wrong.
I often do it too, every once in a while. Forget a friend's invite to come over anytime until I need some place to cry. But the thing is, this whole thought made me think about another thing. My best friend is God....yet I realize that I only call on Him when I am in trouble. Most people do. We see him as a life saver, the Savior, the Protector, the Comforter but we forget that He is also the Friend, the Lover, the Peace. There is a term that this makes me think of this- "Fair Weather Friend"..... But if you reversed it I think it would be more accurate to describe this kind of relationship. It's like everyone has the philosophy "When all is good be at peace and know somewhere in the back of your head it's God's doing but there is no need to talk to Him, and as soon as all turns bad then quickly discover what a great friend God is, call on Him so that He can save you, talk to him often." What a flawed philosophy! Bless God when all is well! Talk to Him! Praise Him and Live for Him! When all is not well, Talk to Him! Praise Him and Live for Him! It shouldn't change depending on our mood or state of being. God is great no matter how we are doing! And the best part is He is ALWAYS there! Isn't that amazing? Even when we are stupid, or ignore Him, or even DENOUNCE Him, HE IS STILL THERE!!! I love this ever-present God and I pray that I won't see Him as just an ear to call on, arms to be embraced by, or a shoulder to cry on but also as a heart that loves me, hands that applaud me, eyes who are watching me, legs that will leap with joy with me! I pray that I see God as a friend and when all is well He is there.

YES! I know EXACTLY what you mean, especially because I'm guilty of it so many times! Run to God when life's too tough to handle but ignore the best part of Him -- the part that makes you jump for joy and want to laugh and cry and shout simply because He's filled you with so much joy that you CAN'T hold it in! Thank you so much for this entry Addie!
