So Friday I went to an exhibit at a local museum downtown for
Spanish extra credit
AND MOST OF ALL
Dia de los Muertos art
Yeah, it was a REALLY cool exhibit. It's totally sparked the morbid, dark autumn spirit in me that's been sort of hibernating...lightly.I love Day of the Dead. The art and rituals and everything.
On of my favorites was a black and white picture of an old lady at a Day of the Dead celebration with people in skeleton masks. Right behind her was a guy dressed up like the Grim Reaper. The picture was titled somewhere along the lines of "Watch Your Back". I was neat.
I also wandered around the gift shop and there was stuff I would of course like to have, but can't afford. XD One of the museum ladies was adjusting a Vincent Van Gogh doll (which I wanted) which had a detachable ear, and I was geeking out over it, and she shows me these little plastic figurines set of famous artists. There was Vincent again, Frida, and the last one I saw was ANDY WARHOL and I screamed. It was cool. I want the set. D:
So I gots new Oingo Boingo music (The Only a Lad and Boingo Alive albums) from my generous friend who burned the CDs for me. Just in time for autumn, huh? I've been listening to them, "Danse Macabre", and The Rite of Spring more lately. All such weirdly beautiful music just in time for the weirdly beautiful season.
Yesterday I watched Bottle Rocket. Unintentionally I've seen all of Wes' films from most recent, to oldest. (Have yet to see that new one, though. Don't know if it's out on DVD or what...) Anyways, I liked this one EVEN MORE. Every one of his films that I watch I like more and more. I laughed SO HARD at the (once again) DEVO reference with the yellow jumpsuits and pantyhose over their heads. But it wasn't just that. It was just really funny. And weird. Psychotically weird, once again, and I like that. I want to own his films. Oh, how I love discovering nifty new things...
As an added note, I have...muscles...now because of my rigorous P.E. class and it's kind of scaring me...I've never had arm muscles in my life and my legs are extremely strong and...spring...y...
I says to my best friend Kelli the other day,
"Check out my guns."
and I flex my arm and the little boy arm bulge appears and she says, "YOU HAVE LITTLE MUSCLES!!!!" in an excited voice and I'm just, DX
Curse healthiness! I only took that class so I could be inside more following those weird aerobics tapes and I wouldn't have to deal with the SUN, my long-time enemy. *hiss*
So you guys better watch out or I'll vitually beat you up.
My mom made me go to the grocery store to help her out today, and I picked up a whole box of water bottles very easily without any strain like before I took the class, and now I can't escape from our weekly grocery store trips. She'll want me to go every weekend now. XD
Today...blah...boring...I've been watching YouTube more than ever now and I don't know why. I just enjoy watching neat things. XD What a great invention.
