Intermission: Why write?

Rate this Entry
There are many reasons why people do not write.
- Too busy
- No talent
- Lazy
- Lack of interest in writing

Of those four reasons, the 2nd one is the worst reason to not write. Who cares if you are talented or not, you don't have to write for an audience. The world doesn't need to see all you write. Sure it helps to be talented. Perhaps you'll write a best-seller, make the NY - Times list. But that is not necessarily what writing is about.

For me, writing is about relaxation. It makes me feel relaxed and calm. I put all the crazy energy I build up during the day into the story I write in the evening. Or perhaps it's a poem, it all depends on how I can best write away the energy.

Some wonder why I killed of my main character,or if I even really killed him. (actually, it's one asking me why, and one saying I can't have killed him ) Regardless, Now that I just killed off Bob, I'm going to try something new. Something I haven't done before. I'm going to ask a question.

When I do write, it is because I must. Isn't that a famous saying? Not exactly the way I put it, but I think someone said something along the lines of, "I write because I must."

Like I said in the bloggie blog thing. It makes me feel relaxed. And besides, if I can't imagine not writing. Like shalot mentioned, many writers in history came to that conclusion. So maybe I ought to rephrase the question.

Why do you have to write?
