Oh random art.

I've been on a Sherlock Holmes kick, which of course means that I've been abusing my drawing privileges again. There should be some restraining order between me and drawing utensils I swear.

This is a scene from Hound of the Baskervilles, the gist of which is found in my signature. Dr. Mortimer comes to Holmes with a problem, but in the meantime admires the proportions of Sherlock's skull and asks if a cast can be made of it "until the original is available.' And here I am, thinking "isn't that a threat?"

I've always been amused that Holmes is never happy unless someone's got a knife in their back. He can't stand to be bored, I guess.

So there's more but I won't bombard you with dumb. I will probably doodle something from Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, so...duck?

Speaking of JS&MN... what a phenomenal book! Endlessly disgusted with myself for not having picked it up sooner. Seriously, I'm tempted to do some fully macking-incoherent keyboard smash and capslocking to effectively convey my overwhelming love for this book, but I'll spare you my juvenile theatrics and just say this: if you haven't read it yet, do so! It's gorgeous. Like a literary burrito of only the nicest things, and I don't even like burritos. My only disappointment was that she stopped at eight hundred pages.

Otherwise. Classes have started again, we'll see how that goes eh? At least the Indians look in good position to actually reach the playoffs this year! Knock on wood. And good luck to the Buckeyes this year too.

I love your drawings (you did say you drew those right? )

    WOW!!

did you sort of teach yourself to draw? Was it just something that you had to do and then you learned?

I can sort of cartoon a little and I taught myself and I wanted to do it at a very young age (maybe 5 years old) so I just kept doing it. And then I got to a certain point and never got any better and that was it.

I am not as good as you are, but I was just wondering how you came into your talent.

People who can draw or paint have always fascinated me and I always wonder how they do it.

Good luck to your Indians. I see they have pulled ahead. Tigers fell apart. Just like my Orioles.

Your drawings are really great. Are you going to school for art? Hopefully your team does well. I'll be cheering for the Buckeyes, so hopefully it will be a good year. Goodluck with your classes. Meg

Mk: I am indeed! I've got to be decent at something right? Thanks, mk and andave_ya. ...Shalot: Well thank you! I've been drawing since I was a toddler, and I decided in elementary school that I'd be an artist (in uh, conjunction with a marine biologist and figure skater. I had this whole schedule worked out). So I've had lots of time to work toward it! But I've always been extremely jealous of talented musicians. I would just love to sing well or play an instrument. People who can do that are fascinating to me. And Virg, I just hope the Indians can keep it together for a little while longer! My dad always says, nobody knows how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory quite like the Indians. I take a more optimistic view, but there's slight truth to it unfortunately.

I thought your art was well done. Reminded me just a bit of Darren Cooke (The Spirit, DC: The New Frontier).
