a ranting

I just gave a friend an IM ranting, which I haven't done to anyone in a while. It was in an argument. He said it was important not to let religion hinder relationships, and I suppose he's right, but I defended religion for a while and told him how religion helps a person's relationships and life

If you commit to a religious path, then you renounce your worldly station, follow compassion as your guiding light and you transform your mind and then your life, and with your life all of your relationships. Following the religious path, your relationships will be very good. You're not attached to having friends or not, and you have infinite friendship. That is, in one friend you have infinite friendship. And you have at least one friend.

-You're free. That's the most important thing, is that you're free from a whole lot of things that would give you more pain if you cared about them. This freedom and sense of safety and trust will affect your relationships positively.

Hm, well, I guess that was mostly all.. I was also ranting about the divisions of church and people. Oh well.

Haha, I love it, I click to edit and it shows up edit a ranting.

What Littlewing said was very sympathetic, and very true. "if you knew how much you are loved..." I saw a guy talking about the Tao on PBS, and he said a similar thing, "If you only knew who was walking the path you're walking beside you." So whatever path you're walking, there are masters walking besides you. A comforting thought, whether it is Taoist masters, or the Christian God, or if you are thinking of Buddha.- Or just nature. Or people. Well it's actually pretty late so I should head off.

Yeah, I agree with you to an extent. Do you mean relationships as in romantic relationships or friends relationships? If it's the first I'm with you 100%. But friends should be friends in spite of religion. I'm a Christian, and one thing that's really important to me is that I'm friends with whoever God's using me to talk to. Otherwise I'll just scare them off
