Whatever gets you through the night

Rate this Entry
Well, I made it ok through the night. I had a busy day with taking care of my mother-in-law and visiting with motherhubbard and her two boys. Then it was time for homework with my grandson and supper. Bath time, bed time story, getting everyone to bed, took up most of the night till about 9 pm. Then, I took a sleep aide and zonked out. I don't usually take anything, but I knew I would have to be up early today and I never sleep with Poppy away. My second daughter, a nurse, had to work a double yesterday so she didn't get home until after 11 pm. She had to be up by 5 to get ready for another day at the hospital, so I didn't even see or talk to her last night. Poppy called me about 9:30 and we talked for a while and that helped ease my mind and I drifted off and slept the whole night! I think it was a first. But the 6:30 am alarm came another day started. I love being here when our grandson is getting ready for school. He's so funny. He hates socks and it's always an ordeal getting them just right so he doesn't feel any seams. And he's usually in such a good mood it sets the whole day. Motherhubbard is on her way over with sausage and biscuits and the two boys to help keep me busy this morning. Then Poppy should be home by mid-afternoon. I'm making him pork chops and apples and he'll be glad for it. I don't really enjoy cooking anymore since the kids aren't all here, but I know he appreciates it. So we'll have a good supper and visit and everything will be back to abnormal tonight. I'll be able to rest better with him at home. Hope everyone has a happy day.

Things are always abnormal around here so I guess that means it's normal.
I'll save you a pork chop in return for the cake.

I love to cook, but I would have to agree that it is more fun when there are more people. I love cooking for crowds, but I also take pleasure out of cooking for just my 4 person family. I don't know if I'll like it when the kids are grown and it is just the hubby and I. Glad that you were able to get a good night's sleep, and I bet Poppy will appreciate those porkchops and apples today. You have me wanting to make my own now:) Maybe tomorrow.
