Operation

Rate this Entry
Well she had the operation this morning. They used three pins to put the bones together. Apparently the surgeon found it easier than expected, whatever that means. I was expecting her to try to at least stand this evening, but she didn't. Not exactly sure why. Hard to get the story complete over the phone. Either still groggy or she didn't feel up to it. Hopefully tomorrow. I won't drive over until Friday, I think. Unless the situation changes.

From the last blog entry, thank you Scher.

Poor dear, operations are never fun but I'm glad to hear hers went alright. She'll be in my prayers of course.

I'd imagine that your mother would not be encouraged to stand on the first day post-op because of the heavy duty meds that they probably had to give her for operation purposes. On day-2, that would be the first day after surgery, and hospitals would likely encourage activity however minimal, on this day. If your mother was in as good shape as you mentioned, it won't be long until she is feeling a lot better. And please don't worry about mortality rates, as I was reading your entry, you mentioned this worry. Your mother kept good care of herself, so she shall continue to do just that. Plus, she has you and other family members cheering her on (and all the moral support that you can count on here at LitNet!). You guys all take care, you are in my thoughts. Kizzo

I'm glad that the operation went well. It sounds like it wasn't as serious as they thought, and when a surgeon finds a surgery easier than expected I would take that as a good sign that all went well. It may be a few days before they are really pushing her to move around. More because of where the operation was than the fact that your mom had surgery. Try not to worry, which I know is easier said than done, I'm sure all will go well, and your mom will be happy to see you come this weekend. You're both in my thoughts and prayers. Take Care Meg

Thanks everyone. Just found out a few minutes ago that she walked (with a walker, of course) this morning and didn't find it too bad. She may be out in a few days. I'll be heading out there Friday I think.
