Closer little fish

'Come closer little fish, closer,' the shark calls, ready to snap me up in it's jaws. This is my last day at homeas far as I know anyway. Tomorrow I'm moving into Uni. and I'm terrified. Absolutely terrified. I've never even moved house in all my life. I don't even know if I've got everything I'll need. I don't even know what I'll need. I called my cousin, even though it's been a while since she went to Uni. and she said to take the stuff you'd take if you were moving out and if it turns out there's anything you don't need then mum can take it back home.
But what isn’t helping is that mum is really pissing me off but it’s not her fault, I’m in one of those tetchy moods and I can’t shift it so I’m pissing her off and she’s getting tetchy and pissing me off even more.
At the moment I’m really scared of going to Uni. At the beginning I was sure I wouldn’t get in but then I did and then it all seemed so distant but now it’s looming over me like an oncoming storm. I’m starting to think I’m more scared of it than spiders and that’s saying something because when ever I see a big bath spider I go into hysterics, which actually reminds me of the incident at 1 this morning.
It’d just settled down, taken off my glasses and was about to get up and turn off my light when I saw a shape, a very blurry shape. Now I knew that there’s not one there normally so I put on my glasses and saw this huge spider on the far wall. I screamed, rushed out and got mum. I feel guilty about that because I woke her up. I used to deal with spiders on my own, sometimes but recently my arachnophobia has gotten worse and I don’t know why. Problem was it was above my wardrobe so we couldn’t get it but I had a clever plan. I got the pole we used to use when we put the ladder to the loft up (it just stays down now, which is why Henry climbed it on several occasions) My idea was to poke it until it moved over to a flat part of wall and low enough for mum to catch. Seeing as the first few times I poked it I screamed as it moved it took a while. It took some careful prodding once it was in the corner to make it move onto the other wall but I managed. Then I had to get it to come down, which was easier said that done because I didn’t want it to fall. Just as it was reaching a good spot suddenly it fell on the floor. We both screamed (Mum has arachnophobia too but it doesn’t seem as bad as mine). It landed on a stuffed sheep wearing a vest (I’d been playing pirates with them before I put them back in the corner). I had to prod the sheep to find the spider, then I saw it on the leg so I hooked the vest on the end of the pole, lifted up the sheep but mum couldn’t catch it so in the end we rushed out with a stuffed sheep, in a vest, on the end of a pole, took it out side and shook it until the spider was gone. After it’s ordeal the sheep was put back in the corner with it’s fellow vest wearing sheep.
Needless to say, the sheep won’t be coming to Uni. With me, I’m taking Eddie with me. Eddie is a bear I got in Jersey. You select your skin (I went for the bright blue one of course) and the lady injects the stuffing into it and then you put in a little charm and make a wish. I didn’t believe that but I selected a blue star for him anyway. I couldn’t think of a wish to make so I didn’t. Mum got a bear too. I had to name him there and then because they come with a birth certificate. I still had a thing about pirates to in the end I named him Eddie, after Edward Teach A.K.A Blackbeard. And I don’t care if it’s childish because mum’s about 35 years older than me and she got one too.
I’ve a feeling I’m going to need something familiar to cuddle at Uni. And Eddie’s quite a recent addition to my cuddly collection, and he’s very cuddly too, and soft and warm. I think, well, I hope I’ll feel better having him around.
Well, mum’s nagging, we have to be off.
Bluebiird out.
