Dark Drive Restored

Rate this Entry
Well the long suffering one got her hard drive restored and has been happily monopolizing the box for a few days now. I found I enjoyed a vacation from the tyranny of the box and Logos' constant demands for positive material. I extended the vacation until today which is the first of 13 in a row off for what I laughingly call a rest from AAA. No money for a trip and none for a rental car so I'm on a David Jannsen Fugitive marathon courtesy of Season One, Pt 1 DVD. May be black and white but there's a reason Harrison Ford did so well with the remake. Yah yah Les Miserables--Girard/Jalvert--read and watch and enjoy and put the carp back in the pond.

The idiot nephew did not get the liquor store job. His support system is dwindling. I haven't chewed on him since the 30 minute rant (I'm good for only one rant per problem from there on it's life isn't fair except in the Brady Bunch universe and those kids are evil--suck it up.) Unfortunately at age 35 he has the emotional maturity of a child. (Would have put teenager but there are too many young people here on the site that have their acts together to paint them with such a cliched brush--especially Andave Ya.) (Bariku is coming along and I have hopes). My darling Stephen reached the "stop calling and coming by the in-laws house" stage three weeks sooner then I anticipated which is why I don't gamble. I know the outcomes--just never the timing. My poor sister is convinced hospitalization is his salvation. I suspect she watched One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest and thought it was free room and board but I'm drama queening trying desperately to punch this entry up. We'll leave the nephew wallowing for now--I'm a week behnd on developments.

Tomorrow my own son James and Loretta and new/first grand-daughter Mari Grace arrive. Custody case is Thursday I believe. Sigh--another trip to Springfield. Another chance NOT to visit Patty who works in Children's Services as I don't want to whine about the system she works for though we respect each other enough to get past it but the drama queen is afraid of trying to use her position in my favor and other then getting free comics (Avengers please) or candy bars I try not to use friends too outrageously.

The police have visited me twice this week. As usual not what you think. Logos restraining order says three state's distance--the state of confusion, bewilderment and lunancy. Kathycf stops reading--he's on about HER again--bad enough when it was the Countess and Nicole Kidman. Poor Kiz Paws she's next I'm sure. Bad enough Mtpspur thinks Kathycf is still reading but he (that is me) misses her. I still think I had something to do with a certain blogger who went missing last February but that's the insecure part of me. We joke--we do not try to offend but I worry sometimes. You readers just think I'm nice. My cats know better.

Oh yes the police. Working backwards--the Dairy Mart next to me keeps getting robbed and police were showing a surveillance photo and me and the Mrs. took a guess at who we thought it might be. I'm one small field away from the Mart and the robber always comes by a bicycle so I have two or three people in mind. No proof so not much help.

Incident number two. The mid-life crisis was precipitated by my answering a door at 1 am in the morning and taking way too much an interest in the problem at my door needing to borrow a phone. Having survived that nine month madness and lesson in humility and sob stories I'm in no mood for the next crazy lady at my door wanting to borrow a phone. Actually she borrowed Ruth's and started walking off with it to the Dairy Mart. I chase her down. This was my second encounter with her and already the relationship is not to my liking. The first time we meant I had been trimming a tree that is need of one good push to fall into the driveway and I dislike contact wth the landlord if it can be helped so there are branches all over the place. Said lady (who appears to be my age) stops to chat, picks up a few limbs, talks about her husband helping with the yard work and she cleans houses and next thing I know I'm out $2 for her (help). Encounter two is her and Ruth--she comes by says I was hiring her husband and could she have a dollar. Ruth calls after giving up the green and I tell her this is not Melissa Pt 2 and I want nothing to do with this lady.

So here we are -- she had seen a fellow on her street that had been menacing her niece and thought he was coming after her--Fairborn being a bit of a drinking town--and wanted the police called. I dial for her--police arrive--talk a bit --drive away--come back and declare said stalker is in custody for an outstanding warrant--or so crazy lady tells me. Then she starts to whine about where her husband could be. Mind you I've never laid eyes on him. I end up CALLING Greene Memorial Hospital--(we learned one lesson--no more free taxi cabs rides for young ladies) and he's not there. Takes me 10 minutes to get her to go home to check to see if he's an afternoon sleeper like me on a day off. Ruth has left for work by now and I want her out of here. As she gets ready to depart she tries to get a $1.20 for a soda --she had had a beer--and I think she had had at least a couple before hitting our place. I pour her a glass of Pepsi instead and remind her she owes me $3 and the bank IS closed. This gives me an unpleasant view of the mask behind the face and I remind myself I'm a playtoy for wicked women with no conscience and I deserve what I get for being such a gullible fool. She leaves and thankfully has not been back. My partner at work--a former police officer informs me she's probably been marking me and Ruth to see who she can get things out of. Been there done that--never again.

And Melissa was much cuter and more fun I must confess. This is much as I ever intend to relate of the midlife crisis which did me no glory to God or man and ultimately I left her worse then I found her which I always mourn my failures thereof.

Rich it's lovely to hear from you. You have been busy! And as the others say, quite nice. It made me laugh to read your humor. Thanks for the comment but I'm still working on getting my act together.
