Okay!

As I mostly live in accordance to the Major League baseball schedule, my life has now reached the All-Star break. Time to sit back, take a breather, bother the cat. I'm heading to Seattle on the 21st for a few days on that quasi-fancy new airline, Skybus. What will I do there? Who knows! I'm a reckless adventurer.

In the meantime:

So I will admit, I like Harry Potter. Action, drama, big freaky animals? I'm down with that.

What I'm not down with is going to the movie, thinking "hey cool" at finding good seats for my friend and myself and then sitting two chairs down from someone who, apart from having an intimate knowledge of every detail from the books, also retains a mouth that could very possibly swallow Nebraska.

She incessantly felt the need to point out deviations the movie made from the book, when it was probably obvious to 80% of everyone there. This would have been cool with me if she hadn't felt the need to do so very loudly.

Otherwise, the movie was decent. I'm not about to start the list "109 things the movie did wrong" because really, it was ok for the changes they had to make. And I'm lazy. "Oh hay it looks like Harry Potter" is good enough for me. How do you possibly condense hundreds of pages of text into a little over two hours and keep it completely honest? It wasn't like they had the kids riding to the Ministry on house-elves or anything.

And--

Who's got the complete illustrated stories of Sherlock Holmes in the mail?

Oh, that's right. I do.

It was a good all star game. If only there was any hope for the Orioles in the second half. Best of luck to your Indians.

Have a good time in Seattle. I live up there and I know how pretty the area is. I actually had to check the dates because we have friends flying in on that same airline from Ohio, but that is this week, not next week;)

Way back in 1980 at The Empire Strikes Back some bozo in the audience let out who Yoda really was when he first appeared. Being a comic book geek I already knew (had a source of an advance copy of the comic/magazine) but my friend did NOT and was ticked.

Virg, the All-Star game was good, except they didn't start any Indians! How do you explain that? When there's several White Sox players! I cry prejudice. Too bad about your Orioles, there's always next season though.

Mk: Seattle's gorgeous isn't it? Really it's the only big city I wouldn't mind living in. Last time we were there we went to one of the little islands nearby and stayed at a bed and breakfast that doubled as an alpaca farm. How cool is that?

mtspur: how totally rotten. But they didn't leak in advance who Luke's father was--right? Now that would have been devastating!

These loud mouthed galoots at the movie theatre probably wonder what that shower of popcorn was ..... [did I just say that???!!!] Yeah, I really really hate on-going commenting during a good movie.
