HELLO!!! I'm back and with loads of stories to bore you all! To begin with, this was the best visit to Mexico I have ever had!!! Even though they are always fun.

July 19th-THE LONGEST 10 hrs. ever. We got up at 7:30am which may not be early to many people, but to me...its early. We arrive at the airport at 10am only to find that there is no parking. We end up parking at a near by hotel...anyways...my family flys standby because my dad is a pilot for Continental Airlines...so we fly free, but only if there are available seats...if not, we have to wait for the next plane. There is also a risk of getting kicked off of the plane because people arrive late. ALSO, people like to fly casual right? Comfort and warmth are key in Airports. But since we are representing Continental Airlines we have to look nice. I SPEN TEN HOURS IN STEVE MADDEN HIGHHEELS AND IN A DRESS JUST WAITING FOR OPEN SEATS to HOUSTON!!!!!!!! I looked great, but my feet were killing me! And not to mention its uncomfortable to sit around in a dress when you are dying to lay down or sit indian style...so I sat all prim and proper for ten hours. It was fantastic. Not to mention the boredom. Hey, at least we fly free...and I finished a book!

We landed in Houston close to midnight and crashed there. The next morning we got up at six to catch the plane at 8:05am. We did! YAY!! Next stop Guadalajara!! My cousin Erasmo picked us up there. Oh, by the way, its four of us with three big pieces of luggage and some extra bags. So we pile in my cousins itty bitty Tsuru Nissan......and for some reason, Mexicans don't believe in air conditioning. Don't get me wrong, I love the windows down...but goodness! I'm gonna skip the boring bits now.

Everyone is there, or at least my Aunts and one Uncle. The other three are, I dunno. The next day we celebrated my Abuelita's birthday...79yrs. old and still kicking! She had 11 kids...3 died as adults and she had 4 miscarriages. Can you imagine that? Ouch. All of my cousins are in there twenties except for 4. Two younger than me and the other two are my age. I never got along with one of them. Too much alike...but this time I went out with her and all of her friends...it was a lot of fun...I'm not going to go into details however. The pueblo where my family lives is called Tecalitlan...its in Jalisco, Mexico. We went to Mazamitla...its up in the mountains...a small little village with lots of cabins. A lot of French origins there...

Well, anyways I had so much fun that I seriously did not want to come back home. Oh! I got to see my Abuelito which I haven't seen in 8yrs!!!!!!!! He is a writer...he has published four books. So I got the book/writer bit from my mom's side and the artsy bit from my dad's side!

Now I've got to hit the gym hardcore. I feel so sick from all of the bread and tortillas. SO GOOD!!!!!!!

Oh and guess what...Victor got himself another girlfriend while I was gone. I called him up this morning to see what was going on...just to say hello...guess who answers? Stephanie, his new girlfriend...who he has been dating since July 20th...the DAY AFTER I LEFT! Whatever, I've got better things to do and to worry about.

Ciao!

Glad you had a good visit. It sounds like you may have been near to where one of my cousins-by-marriage is at the moment. I know he is near Guadalajara, but I'm not too sure where exactly. I can't imagine 11 kids, some days I can't even imagine two. You Abuelita must have had a very busy and exciting life. Take Care, Meg

Hey ... did someone say STEVE MADDEN? Woot! Your trip sounded like a dream, Mort, I wouldn't have wanted to come back either -- but you can always plan to go again, right? As for the dude -- sounds like someone like you could do waaaaaaay better, what a player he is. Forget him, like Virgil says!
