she woke me last night
howling in her sleep

outta deep dead sleep
dreaming yet in my head
i called out her name

it sounded so haunting
so sad so human so erie
how can that happen

didnt want to wake her
you know how they say
dont wake a sleeper walking
is the same true for dogs

again, softly i called out her name
she didnt stir she didnt wake

there i was half asleep
half awake
and shaken by her howl

darkness all around
dreams gone away
thoughts all jumbled
sleep disappeared
....time passed somehow

stella woke early
smiling on her face
tailing wagging
jumping up and down

geez...all forgotten...never remembered
she's my dog
